2017 Pebble Beach Pro-Am

For me, this is the Schrodinger's cat of tournaments. It is both my favorite event, given the course and the setting, and just seeing those picturesque views while enduring another Cleveland winter, and also my least favorite event (horrendous coverage by CBS, the celeb interviews, the pace). But once again i will continue to watch, because what else am i going to do?

The celebrities ruin this tournament. It's a sin, really. Pebble is my second favorite course and they get these idiots out there and ruin the tournament. I hardly ever watch until Sunday.

Otherwise, great international field.

I can't watch Thursday and Friday because of all the celebrity asskissing by the anouncers. The weekend broadcast tends to be better though.

I wonder why the broadcast spends so much time with the celebs? Does this get them ratings, or are the broadcasters just bored with the PGA pro's week after week?

I think the weak celebrity field tells us that A listers don't want to be a part of it and these C listers need the publicity.

Imagine a list containing the likes of: Bill Clinton, Jack Nicholson, Condoleezza Rice, Michael Douglas, Gary Sinese, Billy Crystal, Sharon Stone. all A listers but all have much better places to play.

I was planing on going to the tournament on Sunday...not really sure if I want to slog around in the mud now. I love walking Pebble. I don't believe there is a more beautiful course out there.

Ratings, growing the game, and the fact that the average (non-WRX) golfer enjoys watching people that struggle at golf as much as they do. It's a lot more relatable than a PGA Tour Pro.

True I get a sense that you have attended the tournament and witnessed the gallery.

Seeing Berman's chest muff rise out of the unbuttoned placket, while the shirt slowly untucks and his doofus straw hat is removed so the sweaty comb-over gets unveiled on 18 green is enough for me. WMPO is brutal, but this event has to be the worst.

I actually like watching the ams. Especially trying to,hit a shot when they really need it. I could do without all the interviews and the fawning all over them. And Murrays antics and the dance moves.

This is a prime tournament to watch with the sound muted. I still get the awesome camera shots, get to see both pros and ams hit shots, but don't have to listen to all the extra drivel.

I understand this tournament is placed where it is on the schedule for travel and convenience reasons, but Pebble would play so much better later in the year as evidenced when it last hosted the US Open.

Smile a lot and say hi to strangers. (they'll think your a celebrity) mind your wallet and take lots of photos (on silent)
