heat curing epoxy....How many do it?

I like the heat pad.  Much prefer its 50 watts with a 2 hour auto shutoff vs. having a 1500W heat gun on for an hour.  A heated throw blanket might be even better to wrap around hosels, but the heat pad folded over both sides works well, and you can stuff around it with a towel.  Cheap; less energy; don't need a box setup; easy storage; orient the clubs however you like to cure; and dual use (for the body)... short of being able to take advantage of free hot weather of course 🌞.

I guess if you're doing a whole set of irons then the long cure is the epoxy you need to keep the epoxy from setting up too quickly but I've used Brampton's 5/20 or something like that for years with never thinking I needed to heat the hosels. I've only done , at the most, two clubs at a time. Brampton's is fantastic stuff

Heat curing is all well and good, but the one thing you must watch out for is when epoxy is heated, the epoxy flows.  Epoxy will act as a fluid and all fluids tend to seek a natural level.  You could end up with all your epoxy in the bottom 1/4 of the hosel and up the shaft core.  One needs to make sure that you don't get all the epoxy flowing to one side or up the shaft.  If you heat accelerate, I would be using those little plastic plugs (or a tip weight) to prevent the epoxy from doing that.

I suggest waiting until the epoxy firms up before putting on the heat.  That way it won't flow out of the joint.

I assemble mine and put them on a homemade club rack and put them in a closed small room at 90+ degrees for 4 hours. It works every time.

Done over 100 clubs with heat. 45 mins on low setting with a heat gun about 3 feet away if a single club works great. I put aluminum foil under the heat gun to protect my work bench. 

 

I've also done full sets before using a heat gun in 20 second increments on high for each club. Wait 4-5 mins and repeat 5 times. Then let cool for 1/2 hour.
