Golfing alone

Playing alone can be really nice. Great way to just focus on your game, the course, and your immediate surroundings.

 

It can be a bit zen like, or meditative.

 

I wouldn't say that I prefer playing alone, but it is certainly nice every once in a while.

I enjoy playing both alone and with friends.  I usually play alone simply because it fits better with my schedule.  Work, family, and coaching limit my time to play, so the faster I can get it in, the better.

I like playing alone to practice. My local par 3 course is empty on weekdays mornings, which is when I'll go and try different shots, clubs, not keep score, and work on my game.

 

But playing a full 18 is a different experience entirely.

 

It's more money. It's a whole day.

 

I'd want at least one friend with me. The full 18 is much more about having a good time with others than playing to a score. For me.

Enjoy playing alone, but equally enjoy joining others if amicable. Much prefer playing alone over getting paired with the wrong guy. Happened to me recently. Coles notes: Tee time 9:30am, (not my home course), Get there, I'm the only one there(?) Pro shop says, lucky me place to myself head to #1 when ready. Ready to go, a single pulls up, starter holds me up and insists I play with him??? We're the only ones there. Guy had backwards hat, hoodie, running shoes, track pants and clubs to match. Tried to make the best of it, guy was throwing clubs, ranting etc, etc. Unfortunate long day indeed.

I'm still in practice mode, so I prefer to play alone.  But, I've finally figuring out the last piece of my game, driver, so I may start looking for a partner.

 

I've  had a dozen random  partners and those rounds were all enjoyable, some more than others. 

Last time I went out I got off a shot so quickly at the end that my partner didn't realize when it was time to head over to the green!

We were chatted for a few minutes instead.

Personally hate playing alone and rarely do... I'd miss the trash talk amongst the group. lol

I play 9 often by myself, but I have difficulty playing seriously alone. I end up playing multiple balls and trying out different shots. Practicing on the course is far better than practicing on the range though.

If I am going to play alone, I would much rather play alone (not teamed up with anyone). I know this always isnt possible, so I will opt for the range or chipping and putting. It's weird, I used to have no problem doing this when I was younger (53 now) but I find in my old age I really dont want to get into conversations with strangers (and I know that 98% of golfers are awesome). Get off my lawn kid! LOL

Truly golfing alone is nice at times. It's pretty peaceful. However you usually get put in with people here if you go non twilight so that's nerve wracking. The pressure did allow me to play slightly better than usual once but I always get stressed with random pairings

I'm the total opposite. When I play with others, I turn into a magpie and lose focus. 

 

If I'm playing solo, especially as the first one out on an empty course, I'm more focused on the game. No worries about pace. No groups ahead to make you wait, or groups behind to make you rush.
