I received trial pack today but we are in the midst of a storm. Putting on the carpet, both Red and Black feel firmer than the TP5, but with the O Works insert, that's not a bad thing. I like the yellow color of the Red. It will be some time before I get to test these outside.

I will say, I like the card that Snell includes telling the buyer to make their decision based on all shots from 150 and in. No other marketing nonsense. It's a refreshing change.

Anxiously waiting for my trial pack to arrive. I'm sure they are going to send them because they charged my credit card on 1-18 for the amount.

UPDATE on 3/3...........Received a shipping email. This will be interesting deciding between the red or black.

Callaway Mavrik Max 10.5°
Callaway XR 16 3 wood
Callaway Mavrik Max 3 thru 5 hybrids
Srixon z565 6 thru PW
48°, 52° & 58° Cleveland CBX wedges
Ping Sigma 2 Kushin C flat stick

All subject to change in the blink of an eye.........and I blink a lot.

I know I'm a bit of a crank on this issue but with the performance, price point and now the yellow color option on MTB Red it's just hard for me to imagine what more someone could get out of a 3-piece Surlyn ball. At best, Dean might be clever enough to get somewhere in the general neighborhood of MTB performance for a few dollars less a dozen.

It's that hypothetical he posed here a few months back. How much spin and overall performance would you give up to save a dollar a ball (or whatever amount he proposed). The prevailing opinion was, if there's noticeably less spin and performance a few dollars won't matter.

After I discover Snell MTB, I stop looking into 3 piece surlyn balls. For the price and performance, it does not make sense to do so except TF Gamer Soft.

I could never understand why someone would hit a 3 piece surlyn covered ball? as opposed to a 3 piece urethane....just curious, no matter how good a golfer you are, urethane just has a better feel, thats just me

Gamersoft has a nice feel. Not much different than a urethane in the feel dept. Now, greenside spin is a different story.

Please recommend a Snell ball for me.

I have a swing speed of around 70. I'm not long, but am straight. I find that I don't care for really soft balls off the putter, such as Callaway Supersoft. I would like to try a new MTB, but not sure if I should go with red or black.

Thanks

Black is softer, go with that. Check out You Tube, there are some reviews there. ;)

I played my first round with my MTB reds on Friday and came away impressed. They were as long as anything out there off the longer clubs (driver, long irons, etc.) but had excellent spin off the shorter shots. They were very easy to control with my wedges. They also feel great when struck. I think I may have found my new gamer, which is good because I took the plunge and ordered 6 dozen without trying them figuring they would be perfect for me.

got my 6 dozen in Friday. 2 doz black, 2 dozen red, 2 dozen red OY. Loved them all. We were playing on really hard fast greens and they had no issues stopping. The optic yellow is a really appealing shade of yellow compared to others I've seen. Can't decide which one I like better, the Red or the Black. Can't go wrong!

You'll learn a lot more by just ordering a test pack than what you will learn here. Too many variable's for a real comparison.
