Anyone attending the Golf Show?

I've been pretty disappointed the last couple years so I'm not doing it this year.

 

I went. I’d never gone before but was pretty disappointed. Peak golf had a flea market vibe for sure as the poster above said

 

The testing area didn’t have anything for putters?? Just people lashing into the net

 

All we did was sign up to try to win free golf so I am expecting a slew of spam haha.

 

The red book was 20 bucks at the show though so me and my buddy split one of those.

 

Kinda lame. Seems like it’s geared for industry types to see each other once a year vs anything interesting for a normal golfer.

Was in Richmond for lunch and found this golf shop called Partee Golf at #3 and Alderbridge.

 

They have a great selection of clothing that you will not find anywhere else. This is especially true for the ladies. Very expensive though.

 

They had more than a few golf bags at or over C$1,000.

 

Some very nice clubs from Itobori, Miura, Team Yoshimura, Epon, Mura, Honma, Brands that you do not see at the usual golf shops around here.

 

It is worth checking out but bring bags of $$$$$$'s.

I've been there a few times and while it is true that they carry a lot of expensive Japanese gear, they also have very good deals on some more mainstream merchandise. Case in point, I bought a pair of G4s from Golftown a few weeks back. At Partee Golf they were $100 cheaper when I was there on Saturday. I've also snagged lots of Linksoul clothing for 50% off regular prices.

Do you think a lot of the higher end JDM brands would do well here? I am talking JBeam, Crazy, etc I have thought for years about bringing in and selling some of the JDM boutique stuff.

Played the Canal on February 3. Friend's Chilly Willy Tournament. Surprised they let us out. It was snowing when we started. Got worse as we went along. We quit after 15 because one kid didn't dress for the weather. I was fine... in my five layers.

 

Ground was sloppy. However, every time I hit an iron, and even a wood later in the round, mud froze to the club before I could even try to clean it. Using some old Nike balls, surprisingly, they didn't feel that bad. Snow and mud caked in the spikes and froze.... was like walking on platforms at times. Still had fun.

 

By the time we left, it was snowing pretty heavily in Surrey with a few inches on the ground. Cars were already starting to slide.

riverway looks like it should be playable soon - still had some snow in spots this weekend while i was at the range but it should be clear if it stays sunny and this warm.

 

i know you guys keep saying morgan creek is in great shape but i'm not gonna pay them 80 bucks or whatever they want for allowing me on their course in feb.

 

doesn't seem like the van courses are open? i would think fraserview might be playable if so.

 

guessing tsawassen springs is playable and prob kings links. is that hampton cove track any good?

No temps. Fairways were a bit soft and not much grass in some areas so it made it tough for the short chips just off of the green, but other than that it was in great shape. Bunkers had lots of fluffy sand and greens were fairly quick too.

Just finished 2nd hole at Loomis Trails.

 

Bit of a wait at the 3rd hole.

 

So far very impressed with the conditions.

 

And it was CAD$50 cash not too bad.

 

Forgot to add there is absolutely no food here so get your drinks and food BEFORE you get to the course.

So kings links gave me a 9:03 time which I was suspect about. Got the the course w my friend and parking lot was empty. Some lady came out and said sorry we called everyone and told them it’s a shotgun at 12:00. I said you definitely didn’t call everyone.

ya I called them Saturday to see if Thry had any time slots with room for a single and they told me about the shotgun start and apparently every single group was a foursome which I was a little suspect about. Apparently they did the same thing on Saturday as well.

North Bellingham had a 1 hour frost delay and was the windiest round of golf I've ever played, but man was it fun. Clicgear carts were blowing over and balls were blowing off the green lol.
