As u say no one was hurt.. That's all that really matters. The rest is replaceable.. I would assume they will Have something up and running with in a few days

I have a tee time there next Sunday

I played Guildford Monday afternoon, big mistake. We walked off after the 14th green. 4 hours 15 minutes for 14 holes. It was pacing at 20 minutes a hole at that point. Would have been a 5 hour 30 minute plus round. I won't bother going back. Waste of time. Holiday Mondays are a bad choice anywhere but they seem to have no idea how to run a golf course. I am playing Northlands Saturday early, I will happily pay more for a course that cares about pace of play.

I think afternoon is the key word there. I know not everyone is an early bird or can get tee times, but the later the round the worse the pace. Obviously the accordion effect, but I think you also tend to get more folks who may not be as experienced or aware of the pace of play etiquette. You can't rely on marshalls to do anything about it.

Agreed. I will NEVER play a public golf course on a long weekend Monday. It’s almost guaranteed a 6 hour round. I understand some can’t get out otherwise, but that’s expected on a Holiday Monday.

What's the course like.. I see tee off has  some cheap weekly deals

$32 bucks seems pretty cheap for 18 holes of golf

I may have to check it out for that price

The falls in Chilliwack for $46...

If fuel wasn't 2 bucks a liter I would be on my way tomorrow

Heading down at the end of June to play a few courses and I may have to stick around a little longer if I can play for under $50

My record was 7.25 hours after quitting on hole 14 on a beautiful Labour Day at University about 40 years ago.  Anybody in town that had ever held a golf club apparently showed up and they kept pumping them out.  I played with a good friend and my then wife, and we just chatted between holes, played a  golf dice game and decided to see out of curiosity how long it would be. Finally we gave up.

Fairways need cutting, they are really long, greens are okay. It's Guildford so I never expect much, I have never liked the place, but my buddy likes it. The people that run it are clueless.

Northview Ridge on the Stat. Show up 2 hours early to find the restaurant closed. I was pretty embarrassed seeing I brought my best customers. Had a sanny & beer at the shack, then hit some balls. Our time was 2:10, but we were near the tee at 2:00. No group, no starter, so we teed up and hit. At 2:04ish the starter drives up and says we can't hit, there's a group in front of us. After some minor heated discussion, 2 guys roll up at 2:08 and he lets them go. 5 minutes after that, 2 more from their group come up to the tee, but at least the starter punts them towards the green. We tee off at 2:18 and of course the group in front picked up our balls we had hit earlier. 4 hours and 40 minutes later we were standing on 17 tee looking at the guys right in front of us, with 18 empty. No marshall around all day to be seen. Pretty bad seeing the day was $550 for our 4some, not to mention Sapporos at the turn are $10.

It’s a terrible golf course. I would  turn down a free round there.

I looked that course up a few weeks ago..what's it like.. pics looked decent

If you ask me, Morgan Creek is the premier public course around. Great mix of holes, unbeatable year round conditions. Great facility and staff. Unfortunately it comes with a price tag to match. I'm lucky to have their players club card which allows me booking privileges and offers discounted tee times (still high). The fact I can still get a prime tee time without much trouble is the only reason I play nearly all of my golf there. It's a great course but hard on the pocketbook for regular play.

I plan to get down there and play Mc.. I was referring to Northlands 😆

I was reading a little about it the other day.. the pics looked nice and the reviews were decent and it didn't seem out of touch price wise

Mc is pricey.. They seem to keep there tee sheet full..kinda like predator up here..crazy expensive yet there tee sheet is full..a buddy played there last week and a young guy that works there joined them.. he asked how often he gets to play the course.. he said rarely as they are only allowed to book 24 hour in advance and the tee sheet is packed

Northlands is a mountain course. Lots of elevation change and blind shots. Not my fav for sure but I'll play once or twice a year.. It's about 10 min from my home and I choose to drive 50 min to MC for my golf.

I’d play there if it was discounted. Long rounds and always super busy. It’s the only 18 hole public course in North/West Van.

like @Phireside said, very hilly and LOTS of trees.

I like to try everything at least once 😆

Pricing is getting out of touch though.. u can't blame them though with the price of everything to run a course

I played Kings Links yesterday and REALLY enjoyed it.  I'm not sure I've ever seen the course in such great shape in my life.  It's well manicured, shaved banks into some water, sharp edges on bunkers, and hasn't started to "brown out" yet.

That said, it kicked my a**.  It is so challenging to get close to the pins, and some "good shots" just get absolutely ejected haha.  5 doubles and 5 birdies which are both high for me - it's just that kind of test.

Phireside - Seymour would only be 10 mins from your home also.  Did you consider joining there a few years ago when they had some good deals on initiation fees.  Given the cost of playing at MC (and the time to drive there) it would appear the monthly costs (even including allocating the initiation fee over 10 years) would be comparable.

I had considered it when I moved last year. They were running a deal and long standing member was encouraging me to join. It just wasn't the right time for me to do so. I'm also not totally sold on the course itself. Not sure it's one I would want to play all my rounds at.

Playing there in two weeks with my men's group.  Looking forward to it. Always a favourite, though less guys signed up this year. Because of tunnel? Higher green (and gas) fees this year? Dunno.

Heads up Shuswap: Just back from 5 days of R&R in Washington.  One round with my wife at Legion Memorial in Everett (a recommendation to my question for guidance  in the Northwest sub-forum).  Pleasant day and enjoyed the course.  Certainly inexpensive.  $34 without cart, though I paid a couple bucks less as a senior. Typical rate from the courses I looked at managed by Premier Golf Centres.

https://e.cps.golf/PremierV3/(S(wyozem2v2nd3aojq1otrc4fn))/Home/WidgetView

If you become a  Premier Golf "member" (which seems to be just signing up)  you get access to a bunch of courses at the site and 15 days advance booking at  9pm. So if memory serves I booked at 9pm Tuesday  for a round two Wednesday's hence.  I got in right about 9pm and had pretty much my choice of times and courses.

Oh, and Shuswap, though I didn't really need them now, I scored a pair of the Ecco G3 spiked BOA at 40% off from the Ecco Outlet at Seattle Premium Outlets. Soft and hey fit like a glove ...will christen them on course this week. They weren't even out on display..I just asked if they had any Bioms (was thinking walking shoes) as I didn;t see any on display.  He produced these another pair of Biom laced spiked from the back room.
