How heavy is your 33" putter?

A bit off topic but I normally game a 33 and just picked up a 33.5 at a really good deal. Do you think a half inch would make any noticeable difference or should I just leave it. Really like the grip it came with and dont want to ruin it.

You'll be fine

Change it if it doesn't feel right to you

Added 15g lead tape to the sole of my Studio Style Newport2 33" to make it a 365g head. So far so good.

Also got TM's 20g weights to replace those 10g x 2 on my Ardmore3 33". Now the head is 375g and the feel / sound is very different. Very good roll, direction and distance control are both excellent.

I must be the only guy alive that cuts all his putters to 33" and doesn't mind a lighter head weight.

Not at all. I've gone back to 340 and may go lower. My putting has improved dramatically and I have much better distance control.

IIRC Tiger's GSS Scotty NP2 only weighs 326 grams (of course he plays it longer than 33"). But a great example that you don't need to putt with a sledgehammer to be moderately successful.

Given that being a good putter essentially means holing out well from 10ft and in.

My logic is to go to the practise green with 2 putters and find a straight 10 footer.

Put from the same spot with 10 balls and note how many you make. Repeat with each putter 5 times.

One putter will generally be worse.

Modify the bad one or buy another putter and repeat the process

For me i am at 33", small mallet, lamkin deep etched grip, 500gm total weight and c6 swingweight .

I do not seem to get on with fat grips, heavy heads, counterweight was awful, sand filled shaft awful and dislike large heads.

A heavy head seems to affect my transition from backstroke to through.

My playing pal, who has been scratch, prefers a heavier putter, flat cat grip.

I did read somewhere that mark o'meara used a light putter around c3 - c4, but cannot recollect the source.

I would like to learn more.

32.75"-33" here. I play mine at a pretty ridiculous spec, total weight around 500g and B0 SW. Works perfectly for me, and I get no weird head sensations on the takeaway or transition. SBST is a breeze with this setup and feels perfect for me. I will admit, I don't have much of my trail hand on the grip, vast majority overlaps my lead hand, could be the reason I prefer such a light config.

If I had to nail down an exact number for perfect headweight, given a std steel putter shaft, it would be 315g. I also use counterweight in my putters, that's why the SW is so low.

I have a 33 inch ping anser 2 tr 1966 which is 340g, and it feels light. I'm thinking about adding lead tape to the sole, to get it to 350+. Does anyone think this will make any difference?
