2018 WGC Dell Match Play

I can see why some of the big names would give it a miss being that it is now so close to The Masters.

 

My opinion was that this was a better tournament when it was in February. That first Wednesday always had the feeling of the first big day of the golfing year, it has now lost that.

 

Plus the one-and-done nature of it was better in the older days. I guess they changed the format because they got tired of seeing big stars get knocked out on the first day. But that made it more exciting IMHO.

 

Sponsor demands

They wanted a format that would favor seeing more of the stars playing.

Well they just reported that Luke List bent his putter although they didn't know if it was intentional or not. Given his status in the match I'm going to guess that it was.

How come the bracket online only allows you to select 1 player out of a 4-some group? It's not a 4-way match play event for the first round, is it?

 

Each golfer in the foursome plays each other for three days. Only one advances to the next level.

Putting with a wedge is much easier, it’s basically the same weight and virtually the same length as a putter. You’d be using the leading edge on any club.

Yeah exactly, I'd usually use a wedge or choke way down on a 4 or 5 iron and de-loft

Is PGA Tour Live only working on twitter right now and then it'll switch to the website? All other videos on the site work fine but the live feed is just a black box.

 

Working fine for me through website through Firefox. It no longer works on a Mac in Chrome nor Safari.

The Spider putter isn't meant for match play. No way to quickly pick up the ball with the backside of the club. My biggest gripe with that putter. Have to bend down 100% of the time.

Sure, at one time, maybe. But the past 2 seasons? He's one of the worst putters I've seen. Hardly makes anything 5-10 feet. It's like every announcer is living in the past and hasn't been watching him the past few events.
