Bought a "Mint" driver head from member foxycats, here's how it arrived..advice needed

Hope you like walls of text, I'll try to get to the point quickly.

 

After buying a decent amount of stuff off this forum, I felt that many of the people here are good natured. I decided to pick up a 917d2 fo replace my older and beaten 915. Since I like my shaft, i just wanted a head and found a post for the exact one I needed, "Minty Fresh". He was the first to respond out of a bunch of other people I messaged, so I went with him. I hopped on it and we made a deal, his feedback was good so I had no worries, and while the pics shown weren't perfect I couldn't see anything wrong at the time. All that was said to be included was a headcover and the standard weight. After paying, he mentioned he couldn't find a decent headcover that fit right, so he sent it wrapped in a towel with a towel. This wasn't a huge deal as I knew it wasn't coming with an original cover, and have my own driver cover.

 

Fast forward to yesterday, and I recieve the head in a small box, oddly enough I can hear it rattling around, which is odd because usually I package things so they dont that. After opening and seeing that the head is literally wrapped in what looks to be a dish rag, I was a big concerned as the loose took was also in there rattling around. I double checked the head and noticed a small chip in the paint (possibly caused by the loose tool). Needless to say my heart sank as I was hoping for something looking new. I was even more disappointed to find out there was a DENT in the back of the head. At first I assumed the worst, that customers had f***** with the head and ruined it, but then I checked back at the listing, and if you look closely you can see what looks to be the dent, and no pictures of the crown.

 

I messaged the seller yesterday stating my disappointment and asking for a partial refund, since I'd rather not go through the hassle of shipping this back to canada, and maybe trying to fix the small chip/dent. Since he's been offline for a bit I figured I'd post this here for possible advice. Should I be asking for a full refund and have the return shipping covered? Hopefully he responds and doesn't just ditch, but I'd be surprised since his account is so old and has a few decent feedbacks.

If you look at the picture on the seller's post..

Picture that shows the bottom of the driver..

 

You can kinda see the dent on outer edge, I think..

Which means it could have been dented prior to shipping..

Exactly...its not something that would go unnoticed, and worst case maybe I could have shipping insurance cover the cost (though looking at the box its only insured for 100 I believe

I agree that you can see the dent in the original posting if you look closely. However, that being said, I would never classify anything as "Like New" with a dent like that. In fact, I would never say anything is "Like New" with any kind of dent....

 

Personally, I would be seeking my full refund as that should have been either disclosed in the ad, or the "Like New" description should not be attributed to an item in that shape.

it's really not that hard to be an honest seller. it's not hard to list all blemishes if there is any. the ad itself was crappy. if i'm buying used and don't see the pics i need to see, i ask more questions. it should be common practice for sellers to notate all and any imperfections anything has but some will undercut it with the hopes of little to no questions asked other that, what's your paypal? if you're fine with the dent which was there while in his possession (you can make out the dent in one of the photos), id ask for a partial or just full refund and go elsewhere.

 

at the end, negative feedback should be left no question.

also, how is he allowed to have multiple ads on the same item? in your listing he has a rogue with no shaft, in another he has the same head for sale with a shaft. also has Mizuno irons for sale on multiple listings.

Insist on a full refund, return shipping included. In the future, never buy anything here described as "MINTY FRESH". If "MINTY FRESH" is included in a title, don't even bother reading the ad.

He took pics of the chips on the taylormade driver but failed to disclose the dent and take pics of it on the Titleist Head. It’s a bit hard to see the dent from the pictures and he may have missed that but in no way is this head minty fresh.

 

Seller should refund and pay for return shipping.

it's new or it's used. nothing in between. describe the condition along with the photos. "sole has normal brush marks, face shows normal wear, hit the cart with my driver which is why there's a dent."

 

don't tell me it's minty fresh and i used the back of my driver left handed out of the woods and ended up with a dent.

 

don't tell me pictures show condition and show me a crappy iPhone 3GS quality with 1 incandescent bulb in a dark room photo of the driver. there's no reason to not point out the issues this club has.

I believe the guy who said to use "see pics for condition" is the right on with how all the post should be done. but mention all the flaws that might be hard to see at least

It gets old reading BST listings that say "mint" or "like new" on them with clubs that, while probably taken care of decent enough, have been extensively played.

 

Just take a full range of pictures and post them, and let the seller determine what the condition is.

Man, this thread derailed faster than a train made of butter. Should I be worried about the guy trying to claim insurance on the return ship, possibly stating that it was damaged on the return to him or to me? Not going to speculate about the guy since he isn't here to defend himself, just want to make sure that I've got all my bases covered.

He’d lose that. A dent like that isn’t made from a club wrench in a box that was mis packaged. Scratches, sure. But that dent takes a nice thump to get. You should 10000% return the head with no cost to you. There’s no retailers that would even take that on a trade in for credit. You should not have to pay for it with money. Hope that makes sense.

Seller violating several rules should be banned. If I was him and had no bad intentions I would refund the OP and no request the head back.
