Best online custom club retailer?

I require a pretty unique set up due to my height

 

Where is the best place to go with the most custom options ? I.e. Shaft cut length, loft, lie, SW etc

As boring as it may sound I would still go with a Cameron/Titleist MOTO, in the case something is wrong most likely can be changed, where most one-off putter builders (custom) maybe wont do this, also you have option of seeing heads before ordering at a retail store

Though they virtually never run sales, 2ndswing.com has delivered me 5 custom clubs in the last 3 years.

 

A 5 were absolutely perfect to every single detail and they had tons on shafts and grip options, and did all the loft/lie free of charge with order.

I find TGW's custom menus pretty comprehensive, the only thing I don't like is that you can only enter 50 characters in the box for custom instructions. Carls has a pretty good custom menu as well, although they don't offer customization on most clubs like TGW, but you can still get it by calling in and speaking with an online rep. I like Carls because the reps respond quickly when they need to contact an OEM to clarify something. TGW reps I find are more like order takers and several times they just haven't gotten back to me at all.

 

Ultimately it will come down to the OEM if your custom order arrives built to spec and you've got even odds of that happening, regardless of the OEM.

Anyone have a preference for Ping? There can be additional options (like digital loft/lie checking) that baffles some accounts when I have tried to order through them.

+1 for 2nd Swing for online custom options. I know a lot of people are down on them around here due to used pricing but, if you need something that isn't standard, they have a ton of options. Just received my Mizuno JPX 900 HM 6-PW in +1.25", +2* lie, and Recoil 95 stiff with the CP2 Wrap in jumbo. I believe 2nd Swing just places the order with the manufacturer but I tried looking everywhere online for those options and I could only find them on 2nd swing. FYI, I live in a rural community so a local shop wasn't an option for what I was looking for.

 

Also I've had luck with their used section recently with some "never hit" SM5's in raw black that fit my specs. I like that you can see the actual club and can have the loft, lie and grip changed if you want.

My particular challenge is that I like my wedges to be the same length - 60 thru 45 - going w +2 on the PW length for all wedges - so that's 37.50 or 37.75 depending on the manufacturer

 

Having said this I know that's a lot to ask of an online retailer so it's not a huge deal but I see some sites won't even go to +2 in

 

Callaway site has been the closest I can get to really drilling down as you can build any combo of sets and individual clubs

 

It's just a pain to have to go to a physical retailer / fitter when you know exactly what you need

 

I'm looking for a site that you can really get into fine details but that may be unrealistic

Challenging indeed - yet so simple in that I just want them all to be 37.50

 

I had a set fitted for me last year - so I have no need for fittings - hitting bays - hearing different opinions and philosophies etc

 

I just want to click the damn mouse - type in what I want and subsequently see it on my doorstep 2 weeks later

I suppose I can see ordering online to not pay sales tax, but my favorite family owned local shop offers regular customers a nice discount on the price so it makes up for the $80-90 bucks or so in tax on a set of irons.

I see no need for a middle man (rather - physically having to go to a retailer/fitter) and I've had some bad experiences

I have used Manhattan Golf twice for custom orders and their customer service is second to none. Not very many golf shops have websites where you can put in all your options and order custom clubs. If you know what you want and your exact specs, you can't go wrong with Manhattan.
