They're not making any more. They just have several sets in reserve. I just received a replacement 4-5 iron on the "2-per year" replacement program.

We’re on the same program but I got 3 last time .   Woo wooo

What exactly is this replacement program you’re speaking of? I have a set of s55 in good shape but some browning on my wedge! Thanks fellas.

Go to a PING dealer and order any iron you choose (including S55) as a replacement for the one you have. It will arrive to your dealer with the specs and the serial no. of the iron it is replacing. I've only been able to replace 2 per year, but evidently Cardy has a hack on that.

I was able to "replace" a whole S55 set over the last few years and recently my wife's i-3's. The only thing I know for certain you can't replace are the OG eye 2 wedges. They've been gone for several years.

Genuine question - are there any other 9-year-old irons which are still producing wins on tour?  The S55s are intriguing given Fitzpatrick's major win and now this.  I was a bit sad to see Fitzy had finally moved into a new set this year.

There are a few older irons out there in some tour players bags (i.e., Daniel Berger’s set of TM MC’s) but it’s usually one guy who is reluctant to change. You’d be hard pressed to find another iron set of this age in multiple tour pros bags and still producing wins.

Somewhere in some shuttered down failed strip mall, there is a defunct Golfsmith or Nevada Bob’s with a half dozen in the box sets of S55’s, covered in dust.

Probably squirreled away by some lucky final store employees (before the liquidators took ownership of remaining stock).

Going lighter in the long irons to increase launch? How is the feel in the new BP s ? The S55 is so hard to beat I've had a couple sets. Playing i210 currently. I'm seriously considering power spacing to bring my launch down reduce and hopefully improve turf interaction.

s55's are my all-time fav iron... played blades forever because I struggled to avoid baloony flight with most CB's... first cavity iron I could afford to play with a little softer shaft. boom, felt so much better, less "work" than any iron I'd ever had and just right windows. I'll prob get some flak but played then with c-taper 125 S... played them for so many years that a lot of the chrome stated flaking off on the edges. I've had a lot of Ping irons before and since and never had that happen. But i'd also never played a set for 8 years. Anybody else have that happen? they got so sharp I actually cut my finger a few times on the toe edge.

Been playing iblades now for maybe 2 years and they're great too. I like the shape of iblade slightly better but s55 felt better and I think were little more workable and more forgiving. I'd play the s55's if they weren't so beat.

It's called delamination. PING knows they had/have a problem with that in the 55's. It's worth a call to them to see if they will replace it. They have the best customer service on the planet.
