I only took a screen shot of the specs so I could compare them to the ts1Screenshot_20221102-101512_DuckDuckGo.jpg.774e0b024572e48d3843d490e3f19c74.jpg

Interesting how it's actually slightly weaker than the TS1 throughout most of the bag. But the loft differences are pretty negligible. Which is actually a good thing. Do like the offset numbers a lot.

Just some of my internal thoughts on the TS1-IM images and specs.

I wonder which iron is further along and will be available for purchase first, the TS1-IM or the TS-3? The images you all captured (and thanks for that) indicates to me they have the TS1-IM prepped for ordering, yet the TS3 has published MPF specs and images. This is the first TS1-IM image I have seen and given the specs seem decided, there is still no official MPF calculation. Wonder why? Both are in production.

The MPF is slightly higher on the TS1-IM (728 vs 711) so the TS1-IM will have it's own calculation and entry in the MPF listing. So why do you suppose the TS-3 is getting a spotlight and the TS1-IM is still backstage? Britt has been asked for and promised images but this erroneous release of the web page is the first we have seen and it was released as a mistake.   I really don't know why the TS1-IM is being kept back from view..

The other thought I had was how much better I like the TS1-IM look.  I love my TS-1 irons, but am wondering after three years of almost daily hitting if I can't make a case that the TS1-IM is now a "need".  I am trying hard to convince myself of that.  I am guessing since the head weights are identical, a mere head swap onto my existing shafts will deliver the same swing weight and swing feel. Do you think I am right about that? I am trying to avoid the demo club route. I can't imagine swapping the old TS-1 (see how I am calling them old?) for the TS1-IM and wishing I hadn't. The only feel difference I noted was the C.O.G on the IM version is slightly higher, .750 for the original and .788 on the new. Is there any risk I won't like them for some reason? What could it be?

I also worry about an impaired supply chain even more possible next year and that buying TS1-IM and TS4 as soon as they are available might be prudent. Since seeing the TS1-IM, I am now convinced I want both the TS1-IM and TS4 clubs and that it is in fact a true need, so it is hard to wait.

Thank you everyone for staying on the Maltby developments and keeping the rest of us informed.

With these new models coming out, along with the New Level iron models, I don’t know what I want for next year.
I might just buy a set of TS1’s and be done with it.
But I do like the cleaner look of the new Maltby releases.

The New Level irons are a great feeling forged iron. I’ve had issues with distance control “hot spots” with some of the new hollow body players irons.

if the headweights are exactly the same then yes,    but given manufacturing tolerances there is a high probability that none will match.

What would be wise is to pay for handpicking, and get the exact same headweight as each existing head you have.

To do that one would hope you weighed the existing heads before you assembled them and kept notes.

Do you think any player type or course conditions can truly motivate the Ping high CG and MOI designs? Or is someone letting the marketing people drive the designs (it wouldn't surprise me, but would be disappointing)?

For me personally,  it equates more to feel or lack there of, in an iron strike versus actual performance.

Anyone catch Britt's response on one of the threads on the Maltby forum re: the TS1-IM....

"TS1-IM features a Super Maraging steel forged face and a 1025C carbon steel body. It also has the tungsten “co-forged” into the toe to allow for precise cg location and increasing the overall stability"

The change from the TS1 (which is a 1025C forged face) is interesting. I'm not a materials expert by any stretch of the imagination. And am wondering what motivated the change. Hotter face? More consistent? Improved feel? Something else?

Maraging steel is stainless. Maraging and 1025C are remarkably similar, with the exception that Maraging steels have 2-3x higher yield strength. I guess you could go thinner if that’s what you wanted to do.

I read this is the write-up posted accidentally:  "The TS1 IM face is forged from MS300 Super Maraging steel. MS300 is stronger than standard Maraging steel due to it's superior elongation and yield strength allowing for a thinner 2.1 mm face thickness resulting in higher ball speeds off the club face."

I don't quite understand as the TS1 is listed as: "The TS-1 head design features a 2mm 1025C forged face".  So I don't see the thinner part. It just must feel better. I don't know.

I've been on the fence ordering a club pack of the Sti2s. This thread really helped me see how they look. Aesthetically...they are not my favorite. I will remove all paint fill as soon as I receive them.

Size wise, they actually look smaller than o thought. For the price of a club pack...cant go wrong imo.

Thr KE4 max size is what I wanted to avoid...the STI2 are definitely smaller.

My biggest issue with them is they wrote “MALTBY” across the sole…

100% correct on the sole writing.  I have them, don’t love it.  Been tempted to remove the paint fill to lessen it.  Doesn’t stop me from liking them though.  Those Sti2 heads are the best deal out there for quality clubs.  They are sleepers for sure and are great for trying out different shaft options.

I will be removing all paintfill I can. I generally prefer some nice ferrules and no badging on an iron. Below are my Wishon Sterlings, which are by no means nice irons.

Damnit Popeye, I was just thinking about wedges and now you have my finger itchy over a DRM 54° and a Max 60°!

Well.... the Max 60 is super easy to play. The DRM is more of a players wedge but it's not so aggressive like a Vokey.

So having the Max in the difficult to play loft works well.
