Booking a trip to Cancun tomorrow for our 20th this summer. Was gonna bring clubs, but since it’s Mexico I might never see them again.

If someone offers you a free round of golf at the airport, keep walking.

 

I played Mayakoba a few times when we went down there. Nicest course I've ever played.

His miscue on 11 didn’t seem that bad in the moment. It was raining real hard at the time, so he needed to hit it harder to get there. He misjudged, but it’s not nearly as bad as if he had done that one of the previous 3 days when the conditions were predictable.

 

In his post round interview he said he played well except 2 holes. That felt like BS when I first heard it, but it’s about right.

I'll pay that much for fully waterproof shoes - like the Ecco Goretex I got last year. But I dont care how high quality the suede is, I dont know how thats going to hold up longterm

Good point on the suede. It looks like they're using it minimally, but I have another fully suede pair from them that were supposed to be waterproof, and they were not. They weren't waterproof in dew. I think they were one of the pairs I spent $20/$30 on so no biggie, but I'd be ticked if I paid full price.

It seems like there's been a steady trend where golf shoes have gotten more expensive and less durable. I'm kind of making up numbers, but it feels like "normal" price has steadily increased from $100 to $125 to $175 over the last 5 years.

 

On durability, I mostly mean in how they look, not function. They just seem to get and stay dirty. Maybe it's just because I play more golf than I did 10 years ago, and I walk more when I do play.

On the whole, it just seems like any shoes I've bought within the past 5-6 years get to looking like crap really quickly.

 

The only exception is the TW13. I don't know what material the upper was made out of on those, but they were the best shoes ever. They didn't crease at all, and looked brand new with so little as a wipe from a wet rag.

I think I have three pairs in my rotation right now. The Adidas Gripmores that I think are three years old now and they are pretty durable - I will keep those as long as they last. The Sketchers I got last season were @ $50 and they are the same, I feel like those would last forever. And same with the Ecco Hybrid - although those were definitely pricier.

 

But I learned my lesson with the pair of Boosts I bought - I'm sticking to black shoes for the most part. They just get too dinged up and too dirty to stay looking very good for very long especially if you walk a lot in mud or dew.

Made it to the EPP range twice last weekend. Saturday with ahoop, and Sunday with the wife.

 

ahoop and I had to kick the snow off the mats on the upper deck when we got there, but an hour and a half later when we were leaving everything had melted. Felt nice to be outside. Was even better on Sunday. Building those vitamin D reserves.

 

Been tracking my workouts since the middle of January to keep myself motivated ("don't break the chain" type of situation) and I am starting to feel stable during the golf swing for the first time in a while. Two weeks ago on the course and the range last week have been the best I've swung in months. Legs are getting stronger, which is making the knee feel better. Also I can button all of my pants again. All good things.

 

Made wings and fried pickles last night. I stood at our island with my back to the TV and ate air-fried wings until they were gone.

Hidden Valley ranch. The cheaper the better when it comes to wings. Those are from Giant-Brand value pack. I think it was $11. The chickens that had the worst life make the best wings.

 

Wife was heading to the store a couple of days ago to pick up some stuff for the SB and she asked me blue cheese or ranch. I told her to get whatever she wanted. As long as it's one of those two options, I'm cool.

When I order wings, I can never remember if like ranch or blue cheese. I just randomly order one every time, and then never remember anything about it. I'm not convinced they aren't the same thing with two different names for marketing purposes.

I don’t know. In a pinch it can be decent if there is no blue cheese. It’s definitely not a starter. But it’s a decent back up option. I mean, what else you gonna use, mayo?
