LPGA Q-School should be given credits for properly addressing NCAA player issues:

1. Qualifiers can defer LPGA membership until July 1 the following year

2. Top 5 ranked NCAA players are given direct entry to Q-Series

3. Reduce Q-Series qualifiers from Stage II: rather than top 80 and ties, it's now top 25 and ties. It serves to discourage NCAA players from entering Stage II

8 amateurs made it through the top 25 and ties.

Congratulations, Jaclyn Lee made it.

Yes, she played very well this week, I'm very happy for her. I mentioned it earlier she has really benefited from being part of the Canadian National team. This was nowhere near her trajectory a couple years ago.

I'm surprised Alena Sharp is 183 and Brittany Marchand is 188 in the world. They need to be to inside 100 and Jaclyn ahead of them for Canada to qualify for UL International Crown.

Canada deserves to field a team. The crowd was equally as big as UL International Crown and KEB Hana Bank when Brooke played CP Women's Open.

Any big surprises? Alison had a good week, and moved on to Q-series. Kristen Gillman continues to impress with her steady play. Anne Van Dam made it on the cut line.

I was surprised by the play of Ayaka Watanabe. She was a member of the 2016 Japanese IC team. I know she's been struggling lately, but a +16 showing was rather poor.

I was expecting more from Sophia Schubert, the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur champion.

Looks like Emily Tubert will have more time to dedicate to the long drive events, as she finished 9 shots off the cut.

No big surprises; Kristen Gillman is the one I's confident would make it and she did.

Not a surprise Leona Maguire didn't make it; even though she's No. 1 amateur for more than 2 years but she hasn't done much since she turned pro in May 2018.

Bad luck for Andrea Lee, who's No. 1 NCAA player in her freshmen year 2 years ago but has slowed down since.

Really wish there was a way to watch this, even if it was only the final round.

What I’m really interested in is how they do categories for the 2019 priority list. I mentioned earlier that I think 101-125 will now be below all Q-series qualifiers but that might not be the case. There’s also going to be a lot of exemptions next year; maternity, injury, career top-20, Top-40.

144 holes of stroke play with no cut. That's a lot of golf.

The main changes from Stage III to Q-Series:

1. Only 40 players advanced from Stage II to Q-Series; in the past, top 80 and ties advanced to Stage III.

2. LPGA's 101-150 players are given exemption to Q-Series, but not for players outside of 150. In the past all LPGA players were treated the same.

LPGA intended Q-Series to be an exclusive event.

I'm sot surprised the top 45 and ties from Q-series are given high priority on 2019 priority list.

If it does turn out that way, and I think it will, a couple of the 101-125 made a bad decision not to play.

Jaclyn Lee with a nice opening 68. Jeong Eun (Luck 6) with a solid 70.

Alison has work to do with an opening 76. Kristen Gillman with a 74.

Only 9 players currently under par. The winds are negligible, so no idea why the scores are so high.

What a “weird” day for scoring.

It seems to me, that barring a big “turn around”, Alison Lee will lose her current “status” on the LPGA and will be relegated to having to play Symetra Tour events and/or rely on Sponsor Invites. All of this from a one-time rookie Solheim Cup winner to diminished tour status.

She is talented; but its strikes me that her focus appears to be elsewhere other than on golf and her career. She absolutely has the ability to play at the top level of women’s golf. She has been one of the best putters on the LPGA previously, but ever since she switched to PXG she has fallen quickly down the rankings.

I don’t mean to attribute her decline to PXG, and I’m sure that some her decline started before her sponsorship with PXG – it’s just a convenient “timeline marker”. Regardless, I suspect that this next 24 month period will tell us a lot about where Alison’s focus and priorities are and where she sees herself in this sport.

Her Instagram tells me where her priorities have been.

I suspect that you have stated what many others are thinking privately. But, perhaps the "shock" of falling so far will provide the impetus for her to reacquaint herself with the sport and the desire and dedication to get her game back where she is capable of playing. ?‍♂️

Although it seems she has lost some focus,I guess she does need a life outside of golf as well. :dntknw:

Golf Dino

Before Alison turned pro in 2015, she's a remarkable player for 7 year (2008-2014):

"Lee was an AJGA First-Team All-American for six years, from 2008 through 2013, with nine wins on the AJGA circuit. She was a member of the victorious USA Junior Solheim Cup team in 2009, 2011, and 2013 helping to lead the USA to three straight victories and was a member of the Junior Ryder Cup team in 2010 and 2012 and the Curtis Cup team in 2014.Lee played one season and a half of golf at UCLA, before turning pro in December of her sophomore year. She remains a student at the University."

All indication was that she would succeed at LPGA and she did; her scoring average was 70.73 in 2015. By comparison, this year her scoring average was 74.64.

She's been so good at golf for so long, she may have occasional slumps but not a total collapse if her mind is in it.

My hunch is either she recovers with 6 more rounds to go or we won't see much of her in the future.

yeah was shocked to see Vicki's scores. IIRC she was also a SC'r at one time, as well as Kristy McPherson, who at T22 is at least withing sight of getting back a card. Stoelting of BB seems to be playing well, and Mel Reid bounced back from a spotty first round.

Glad to see Jaclyn Lee had a great bounce back on the back 9. The top 10 is really starting to separate themselves from the field could be tough to make up the ground when they go to No 7. It will interest me to see if some of these college amateurs that if they are able to get LPGA cards are truly committed to finishing their Senior years in the college game.

My guess:

Jaclyn Lee: Join LPGA immediately

Lauren Stephenson: Join LPGA immediately

Maria Fassi: Join LPGA immediately

Jennifer Kupcho: Join LPGA immediately

Kristen Gillman: Deferred LPGA until 5/30/2019

Also something I thought about that could affect ones decision and perhaps someone better versed in the rules could answer. There's gotta be a reshuffle between the start of they year and the end of the college season (at least around that time). Does it affect them if they haven't exercised their LPGA status yet.

Assuming 50 qualifiers are assigned priority 101 through 150; 2018 101-150 are assigned 151 and higher.

Reshuffling would move players from 151 or higher to higher priority. However, Kristen Gillman can also move higher if she plays US Women's Open as a LPGA member and has a high finish.
