Orlando Trip Reccomendations

Booking a trip with some buddies in Feb. Been browsing on here for recommendations. This is what we are thinking....

 

Redtail

Ritz

Southern Dunes

Shingle Creek

 

Any recommendations please feel free to toss them in.

Can't say much about many of the courses down there, but I really enjoyed Grand Cypress New course. Links style design with hole 1 and 18 replicas from the Old Course in St. Andrews. Lots of double greens as well. Had a lot of fun playing it.

If I was going I would look at World Woods and Black Diamond Ranch, not to mention Bay Hill.

Shingle Creek took a noticeable decline in their design when they re-designed the course. I would try ChampionsGate CC (not the resort) or Mission Inn - El Campeon before I would go to Shingle Creek.

 

The other 3 are excellent.

I would also consider Juliette Falls. But, that's if you are willing to make the trip. Awesome course.

Just an FYI - from November through March the Winter Park 9 has night golf every Tuesday for $25. Play some golf and get a good meal on Park Ave, could be a good evening event for you if you happen to be in town on a Tuesday.

Just returned from the Orlando area with 8 rounds of golf.

Played

Champions gate country club-Great course only issue, they had a temporary green on fifth hole due to construction.

Providence Golf club- Nice layout fast hard (new) greens

The club at Eaglebrooke- Nice layout good conditions

Red tail- Nice place, Make sure you know where the fairways end

Juliette Falls - Great course and conditions

Sky View at Terra vista- good shape Lots of changes in last couple years,New houses every where

Southern Dunes-Perfect

Heritage Harbor- close to airport (tampa) for departure in the afternoon, shortish course nice greens.

Lots of great places to play in the area or an hour or two ride,

Thanks will ditch Shingle Creek and either do Championsgate cc or Black Diamond if possible

black diamond isn't in orlando. Just go play bella collina instead of shingles. otherwise the lineup is awesome.

Black Diamond Ranch is normally private. You can get on, but you likely need some sort of connections to do so. And it's going to be costly...like $500 per person.

 

I like Bella Collina, but it's tough to appreciate the first time out. I'd put ChampionsGate CC ahead of it and Juliette Falls way ahead of it. Again, the only issue with Juliette Falls is the drive

I'd go with Pine Barrens at World Woods.

 

 

If you're looking for something closer to Orlando, I would go with either Southern Dunes or ChampionsGate CC (not the resort).

If only spending one day in Orlando, it's tough to go wrong with Orange County National and playing 36 with Crooked Cat and Panther Lake. But if you can only play 18, i'd defer to some of the other guys. I've played those 2 courses and Mission Inn El Campeon. I loved all 3.

If you're near Disney I play Celebration often. its a little narrow but usally in good shape. Its in a little Disney town that has some decent food spots to. Course is a co- design by Robert Trent Jones Sr. & Jr.

Normally need an invitation from a member to play Black Diamond Ranch, but they have a stay and play holiday special right now. $399 per person per night. Need to stay at the lodge to play Bay Hill too.

I played Celebration in March and liked it. Didn’t like the lake range. Who wants to hit balls into water ?? Champions gate is good, played there 10 years ago.
