What happened to Las Sendas? Which course is better (well, that word may not belong in this discussion)?

Las sendas got hammered by the rainfall and they had several fairways with rivers flowing through them, so I got refunded and looked elsewhere. Az golf resort had lakes forming on #7 when I drove by and took a look.

Western skies is a pretty boring course made worse by cpo and getting paired up with a grumpy old fart and the other playing partner introduced himself by saying “I haven’t played golf in 3 years, but I’ve been to the range!”.

The storm hit in the afternoon and on 17 the wind kicked up crazy hard, hit a pw from 109 yards out dead into the wind and it went like 100. So, like a hundred yard wind lol

Vistancia is in the best shape I’ve seen it in years. $35 after 11 makes it one of the best values in the valley right now. Only complaint are the bunkers are inconsistent and a little thin in areas. Other than that it’s awesome right now. They received 2 inches of rain on Monday but it drained perfectly. They are shutting it down for overseed at the end of October.

Still not as bad as driver driver wedge on the closing hole at superstition that day we got caught in a downburst.

Man just realized Wednesday marked the 1 year anniversary of me actually making a golf swing. Good news is my latest round of PT is making more progress. Hopefully I'll be able to support a golf swing on my lead ankle soon and actually get back to playing some golf.

Thanks buddy. Once I can start swinging again maybe we can hit up mountain shadows or the other short course by you. Right now if I swing a driver I might blow out every single ligament in my foot. But easing back with irons wedges might be a lot easier on me

Gotta get a group together once you're back to 100% OPB!

Papago was in great shape yesterday...tee off at 233 and finished at 635!!! Only bad thing was the bunkers...absolute terrible...one guy in the group ruind a brand new wedge by hitting a huge rock just under the sand. They are concrete.

Plus...on a Friday around the grill is some wonderful views - btw the ASU womens team and the HH folks...wow!

Longbow good conditions, played as a marker for a 2some in a 2some best ball tourney, very easy and enjoyable as they knew what they were doing. 2 great guys from Tucson, fun to see their reaction to the course (mostly positive).

Southern Dunes this weekend. Greens were rolling smooth but VERY slow. Fairways were in good shape, rough a bit shaggy and patchy in places.

The bunkers however.... unplayable. Absolute concrete. Most green side bunkers were almost unplayable. No sand whatsoever. I was pretty surprised they were able to host a Korn Ferry qualifier there recently. It was odd how little sand they had. It almost seemed like they removed sand in preparation for some bunker work during the overseed. I played there in mid-june and the bunkers were decent albeit a bit inconsistent.

The front 9 was also in much better shape than the back. Conditions seemed to get worse with each hole (although that could have been impacted by my mood LOL)

Gotta ask. I am playing TPC Stadium this Friday. I have never played it and always wanted to say I have. To be honest, it’s my wife that wants to go and she loves to ride along on nice places. She doesn’t play. Any update on current conditions?

Played today. Course is still in phenomenal shape. They close for overseed on Monday, course is a bit firmer than normal in some spots. Greens rolling true and are fast in the afternoon.

Thanks man. Appreciate the feedback. I am excited to finally play it. How was the pace of play? I am teeing off at 2:10 and hoping a four hour round will make it just in time before dark.

11/7 is a Thursday...just in case you need to double check your time.

You will be more than pushing it at a 2pm tee time - darkness will be about by 6pm. So I advise checking tee times the night before and trying to get out earlier. If it is a price paid thing, then it depends on the person....sometimes they don't budge on letting you out early, sometimes they don't care and let you go early. Be nice to the starter if there is a open spot.

Sunset is 6:10PM. We went off as a four ball at 2:30PM and finished 18 just as it got dark. We played the front 9 in just over 2 hours and played under 2 hours on the back. The group in front of us was playing fast and there were a few gaps in the tee sheet in the afternoon. Typically, as you hit hole # 15, you start to backup.

Played TPC Stadium course for the first time today. Where do I start... is it just a tourist trap for hacks or beginners? 10 hdcp speaking by the way.

2:10 tee time and I show up to the tee to meet up with a 3 some with one guy had never been on a golf course, second guy has played one round in his life, and a 3 hdcp (he had to tell me). Needles to say that lasted 1 hole and the Marshal was all over it. He sent me 3 holes ahead to join up with a 3 some. They didn’t want me to play with them because they were all learning how to play golf. What the heck..

Good news. I played the rest of the course, including my skipped holes, by myself (wife ride along) and finished in 3.5 hours.

Fast greens, perfect bunkers, like I have never seen besides Florida, and over all great conditions. Excited to go 1 under on 16 thru 18.

Overall, ok course, but the Friday afternoon clientele was suspect. I think people, like me, play it to say they played it. I’ll pass and go to so many better courses at better prices in the Valley.

Was cool to step out of my car and have Tom Lehman standing there saying hello to my wife and I. Very nice guy.
