Haley Moore

How do you guys think a girl like Haley Moore with fare being a pro? My buddy just saw her at a local muni course prepping for a Cactus Tour event. Btw, she is a super nice girl. Having been ranked 19th as an amateur and being on the championship team I thought she would be playing at a higher level tour right out of college. In speaking to her mom she doesn't really have any sponsors so they are coming mostly out of pocket and also started a gofundme. Compare Haley to a much lower ranked Muni He who probably had all kinds of sponsors throwing money and exemptions her way from looks alone.

She won't make it without funding from a sponsor so she needs to find an agent that can help sell her story.

Muni He earned her LPGA Tour Card after 1 year on Symmetra Tour. If Haley does the same then she should be fine.

Why not? If you can get someone else to find you then do it.

 

Only way to get Symetra status is through Q series.

Just to confirm, starting a gofundme and receiving money for tournaments, travel, etc doesn't affect one's amateur status correct?

* This is just me but I lose a lot of respect for people that crowdfund for things like US Kids Worlds, etc. These are junior events that are mainly a family vacation and not necessary for any junior golfer to develop successfully.

There are more than enough people on the streets of SoCal with their hands out that deserve a donation rather than a parent on vacation at Pinehurst.

Played a round at Rancho Santa Fe last Thursday and she was there on the course practicing. I've met her grandpa, aunt and cousins, and I know they aren't exactly scraping to get by. She seems like a pretty good player, would like to see her do well.

WOW! I thought I had seen it all.

The gofundme for X sometimes are just super crazy/lazy and personally IMHO show no responsibility. I want this "thing" so I will ask for others to pay. Because I think I deserve it.

So there has been a little time since this thread started up and I got curious as I had happened to see her recent post on IG about her year on the Epson Tour.

 

2022: Epson Tour

19 events, seven cuts made, $10,883 (109)

2021: LPGA

16 events, five cuts made, $36,895 (142)
2020: LPGA

12 events, five cuts made, $23,981 (126)

 

I know stats don't tell the entire story but her 2022 results have her at 69th in driving distance (265.11 yards) and 117th in GIR (65.06%). 

 

It looks like she's still giving it a go with the support from Oahu Golf Apparel, Grooveit, Eldridge Capital Group and Kinona Golf & Life.

I think this shows why most women opt to a career outside of golf.  My daughter has made more money in one year working for a company in the Big 3 than Haley has her past 3 years playing golf combined.

I think it's hard for guys to turn pro as well.  The money just isn't there unless you perform on a week in and out. 

 

Most people focus on their best scores and then look at going pro. Huge mistake you need to focus on your worst scores.  For women there scores week in and week out need to be below par. This at LPGA distances.   If you can do that you have a reasonable chance of being in the top 30 on the LPGA and will have a few good weeks to get a payday.

 

Most women who have won a major junior or amateur event will be around 75 if they play LPGA distances and have no chance to make a cut.  

 

For guys the numbers are even lower There is more money but unless you able to step out and put a neg 2 or better day in and day out your going to have a tough time.

Not true. 
 

PGA Tour pros make 80% of their money in five or six events per year. Consistency is overrated at the pro and junior level. You need to get on a heater and ride it as long as possible because that flame will blow out eventually.

Ever met a pro that was on tour but was marginal at best.  They will all tell you how rough things are.  You have to be able to put numbers up you can bank on. If you can't don't expect to get lucrative contracts.

 

Plenty of guys out there won a pga tournament only to blow their winnings and dime chasing the next one. The guys loving it are pretty consistent and make the cut more often then not.

Should add with Haley Moore her issue is she hasn't;t been able to post constant numbers to make money.  You simply can't play the LPGA and score 77 during the week and expect to make the cut or place well.  She needs to reduce her bad rounds and she be making some decent money.

If you finished 30th in 25 events on the PGA Tour you would lose your card.

So if your averaging -3 to -4  under a week your going to lose your card?????? Come on  that makes no sense.  The guys losing there card get hot for a weeks with -8 to -10 and then score +2 or +3 for the rest of the year. 

 

That why being consistent with a good score means everything.

Look at what the average score is on the pga.  The players with an average score of above 72 ranks 181 on tour for the 2022 season.  I don't know about you but that is not a great place to be if your on tour and anyone ranked that low is probably lost their card.

Let's be real.  If you are on tour in the first place that is a big deal.  Keeping your card and staying within 50 in the OWGR is a whole other animal.  I personally would rather struggle at times in professional golf  rather than slave in an office for the rest of my life.  Of course I'm saying this as a slave.  Life on tour struggling to make cuts cant be a whole lot of fun either, but I'd still take it.  🙂
