i've experienced stage fright with zero speech impediment. i really admire christiaan's courage to speak in public and on camera.

I saw this too on Sky Sports. Made me do a bit of digging. I find people like this incredibly inspiring, overcoming hurdles, succeeding against all odds etc. Will definatley be looking out for him on the leaderboard at the Scottish Open and The Open.

Great story. I saw him live after the win , but didnt know about the drug suspension. How on earth could the officials not understand the predicament of the poor fellow ?

 

My boy has gone to speech therapy for 5 years to overcome stuttering. Which you never really do. But he’s learned to cope when it’s triggered. His is not nearly as severe as this fellows is but it’s a crippling thing nonetheless if it isn’t managed properly.

 

I can’t imagine being labeled a cheat on top of all that for a drug that is to help with your impediment . FFS can we not use some common sense/ decency once in a while ?

good questions, i would guess it was a complicated situation? i don't know much about the suspension but fortunately it was reduced.

this must be tough to deal with since kids can be notoriously cruel, though sometimes i think differences like this can be blessings in disguise. e.g. help quickly identify the compassionate and patient people from the rest of the bunch. :)

People who overcome great obstacles while still retaining a soft heart are the true heroes in life. Well them, and scientists who are busy undoing the mess superstition and supernatural beliefs have wrought upon humanity.

 

There is a band here in Des Moines, Stutterin’ Jimmy and the Goosebumps who are equally inspiring. Jimmy has a severe stutter, but he gets onstage and it goes away during his performance. Truly a reminder of the impressive resilience of people. Inspiring.

That’s awesome ! Brings to mind the great Mel Tillis .... could barely speak a complete sentence he stuttered so bad. But he sang like a bird .. fluid and without any trouble.
