First there was her shortness off the tee, which put her under immense pressure on a long and soggy course. Despite that she defied gravity for some time, until her bad luck in the bunker. However, after that, she proceeded to 3-putt from the fringe. her putter was getting balky all the while. Then she let her shoulders slump when she was still within reach of the title. Overall, I was a little disappointed with the performance!

Despite the short length, she had one bad hole! Turn that triple into a bogie and we likely have a playoff. I agree that her overall game doesn't stack up to Jin Young, but like Inbee, her putting offsets the shortcomings. If the course wasn't as wet, like it was for three days, she may have run away with it.

Hye Jin is on a tear back home on the KLPGA. I attribute her lackluster performance to jet lag. It seems the KLPGA and JLPGA players struggle at the Evian.

I thought there were about 3 bad putting strokes on the back nine. And i am not saying she putted badly over the round, but you notice these things when so much pressure is heaped onto her putting. Essentially I agree with you, except for the shoulder slumping despondency part. I thought that was a little poor. But yes, on a dry and firm track she might have cruised to victory.

Ahhh, forever the eternal optimist! :-) I suspect that you might be on to something though -- if Lexis gets a bit of a "chip" on her shoulder this week, she could be a force to be reckoned with. She has played relatively well at Woburn previously so she should be a solid contender. The favourite among locals is Charley Hull ...apparently, this is her home course. We will see what unfolds!

And hopefully you followed that up with a pint - or three - of bitter, as I know from the other thread you took care of the pie and links golf already, and you're pretty much had the perfect day ;-)

Apparently my comments about LT now need to be approved ???.

Was going to say based on the interview, I hope she plays well. It reminded me about her interview before the ANA, although her love for the course and her attitude didn't seems as strong/upbeat here.

Based on the last tournament, it seems like there are some courses she just likes / doesn't like and it impacts her play more than it does to some other players.

Yes, R&A takes 100% control next year when the tournament is at Royal Troon. They have just announced the venue for 2021 which will be Royal Porthcawl.

The number of courses that the women get to play (that are on the men's rotation) is pretty good! No Murfield and not sure if they are going back to Turnberry anytime soon but the others seem to pop up from time to time.

Similar to the Senior Open they will have the option to go to great links courses that the mens event can't go to for logistical reasons. Will be interesting to see what the R&A does with the event.

Nice bounceback by Danielle from a missed cut last week. Charley looks solid. Sung Hyun dusts herself off, and gets back on her horse.

Rough start for Jennifer with a +5 round. Funny game.

Nelly sporting kind of a new look, sleeves and long pants in warm weather, very Asian.

My other shallow superficial observation this morning is Lydia. She seems extremely image conscious these days. Each week something about her appears a little different. Maybe once she has finally settled into a look, she can start playing winning golf again.

I see Jennifer Song's name brought up a ton around here. She's often predicted as the winner, too. What the heck is going on here people? Jennifer Song turns thirty this year, has been on tour for nine years, has zero wins and a whopping seven career top tens. I have totally missed the joke, evidently.

She's everyone's best friend on the tour. That counts for something.

Lol. I don't recall Jennifer Song's name being brought up for quite some time. I was referring to Jennifer Kupcho, who finished T2 last week at the Evian.

One thing's for sure. Neither has earned first name-only status quite yet. Sorry. I still maintain theres a bit too much Jennifer Song chatter though.
