Was struggling with the driver lately... (G20)

Decided to give the ol' L4V with DVS in it a whirl at the range...

... the L4V is back in the bag yet again! Unbelievable how forgiving this club is after all these years. I'm going to keep an eye out for a minty head on eBay that I can put away as a backup.

KILLER !!!!!!!!! ... I tried the normal Epic once .. It was pretty damn good.

Gang ... I know a lot of people hate this thread popping up ... and I don't care anymore .. I recently went into one of those modes where I freaking felt like I forgot how to play golf altogether - my brain went bye bye.

Yanked out the old trusty L4 ... MONEY .. Just dead freaking straight drives. Face it .. It's a 5900 MOI driver - Max allowable by the USGA. Max size face - Max size body - with 50 grams of tungsten right in the a$$ end to keep the ball going DEAD FREAKING STRAIGHT .... and it does

I will NEVER !!!!!!!!!! quit using my L4 army ... EVER !!!!!!!

I have been using the G20 a lot lately ... but L4 is still king most days ...

Isn't that the point though - Having fun and keeping it in the fairway. I am so burned out on the "DRIVER OF THE QUADRILLA-SECOND".

The ONLY thing that has improved radically in the last 4ish years is the damn shaft - now THAT is where is all the new distance is. Trust me - Try a Graphite Design DI or DJ in this head - IT'S A JOKE how good it is. Granted OEMS are better at improving launch conditions of the new heads - but they ARE NOT !!!! hotter - they have just figured out how to optimize spin & launch. And now with the new erector-set GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip hosel - WHICH I AM TOTALLY SICK OF - the head just moves around. Meeehhhh ... Gimme a head / glue and a damn ferrule - You can have your adjustable hosels.

You know I've got options MG! Shafts, drivers, killer smile. Let me know. By the way, an LDA GD Throttle is awesome in that head.

Edit: if you want to try the green from your j33r, you can always replace it with my 420/WB setup...

I hit his 420/whiteboard, and it is beastly. Get it before my weakness moves beyond wanting to reshaft what I already have. lol

I put a RIP Alpha in mine and it was a fairway machine, and I could hit that club as hard as I felt like. It was the straightest driver I've owned. I got bored and went off searching for more distance...now I'm searching for another L4V. I'm leaning toward a VS this time since they're so cheap right now.

I tried an Axiv Green in it too. Didn't care for it, for me it felt overly soft for some reason. Mind you these are tipped S, not X I'm refering to.

I was thinking about going all JB Holmes and tipping a 'Green 75x a little. I haven't tipped shafts with this driver, but I think I have to.

Nope. Just the head. Its all snuggled up and ready to go. That leaves me with a TI WB73x with no home. I played my L4V with a WB73s tipped 2". Totally awesome. This would be better. Say the word and it's in the mail!

They will have to tear mine from my cold, dead hands. I mean really; the head maxes out the possible dimensions allowable. Driver heads have not gotten much better over the last few years. Just more shaft choices and you can adjust some of them. Some of the older heads like the L4x are still at the top of the performance chart, I think.

I was so happy when I saw this pop up again. I still have mine in the basement, never getting rid of it. 9.0* X, with a 60-S Aldila DVS tipped 1" playing at 44.75". Thing is fantastic. A few guys I play golf with regularly always ask about the 'garbage can' and I never know what response to give them. There really is no reason for me to play anything else. The ZL I have in the bag now does go further, but I'm not as consistent with it.

I have a couple of 10*Fs -- one has a Proforce V2 57 gram Stiff and I hit that great, but was thinking that for winter golf, I'd throw a steel shaft in the other. I had an Apollo Spectre Lite, which I love in my fairway woods, but it just didn't feel right. So I had picked up a couple of the discontinued Dynamic Gold Lites in stiff, tipped it an inch and figured I'd give it a try. Played Saturday, about 50*F out, and it was great -- only missed one fairway with it, and that was by a couple of feet. Pretty consistent around 240-250, 15-20 yard fade, which is good for me and my 104SS. Now I didn't butt trim it, so it's 46" long, but it was working well. Took it to the range Sunday, and same thing -- long and pretty straight. Found that if I hooded the face a bit at address, the fade disappears.
