Low or no inventory for OEM’s because of China’s shut down

Wonder if the OEM’s are having any inventory issues with the Corona virus shutting down lots of companies in the parts where the clubs are made? I don’t know if the areas the government has quarantined their citizens is in the areas where the clubs are being built but lots of industries are being hit with people either not going to work or afraid to go to work. What will happen to pricing later in the year if the inventory really gets low.

It's unlikely to show right now. However in a couple months maybe. The factories will likely ramp up production gradually, and you should see fairly little impact to inventory levels. It's not like golf clubs frequently sell out because people flock out to buy them anyway.

just wondering as I read that I believe TM gave a couple of pros retail clubs that were digitally spec’d as they didn’t have enough tour issued heads because of the factory issue. I know Samsung is having problems in Korea as one factor had an outbreak of just a couple people and that factory shut down causing issues with shortages of phones. That was just recent and the areas in China have been hit for a while now.

 

I’m not minimizing the toll it’s taking on lives and people as it horrendous what this virus is doing. Just asking a question about clubs with no disrespect for the people in China or any other country.

yes its hitting the OEM's right now... I won a trip through Cobra/Puma where I get 13 clubs, bag, shoes, etc. Talked with the vp of marketing from Cobra about what I can order (exotic shafts or not) and he mentioned theyre out of stock in certain items. Cobra is supposed to have the king tour irons, forged tec utility, and black MIM wedges but release dates are all being pushed back b/c of it. Inventory is low.

I'm expecting there will be some shortages this Spring. Even for companies who assemble in the US they have most components coming from China. It's even worse in the medical field because several factories have been nationalized by the CCP government. So they're just gone.

I traded in a bunch of equipment to take advantage of the TaylorMade 150% trade-in premium on new SIM products a few weeks ago. My SIM 3 wood with Ventus Blue Velocore shipped right away and I've had it for a little while. The SIM driver with Ventus Black Velocore is not scheduled to ship until mid-March, and the SIM Max hybrid with Tensei Pro White was supposed to ship this week but I received an email indicating it is further delayed. The bottleneck in the driver and hybrid is the shaft, so not sure if this is in any way related to the virus or whether I unfortunately picked two of the more popular shafts for these clubheads and TM just did not have the inventory.

I've been waiting for Rosemark's 2020 grips to come out for a while, and I'm pretty sure they're delayed because of the coronavirus. They were supposed to come out in January, then Rosemark's Instagram page had a post about the coronavirus affecting stores stocking their grips.

The only blessing here is that it hit right around Chinese new years. Therefore, many companies were already building up inventory to account for the stop in production due to this.

Is not like the whole country is just frozen and nobody is going to work. My company has a plant in China and we're at 60% levels, with plans to be at 90% shortly.

To get an exact outlook, it probably depends exactly where places are located.
