Mizuno 919 Tour

I just picked up a set of 5-W heads and I am shafting them now with some C-Tapers. I hope to swing them this weekend and will let you know my thoughts however in swinging the demo iron a few times on the range they sound exactly what you are looking for. They have a very Blade-ish shape to them but with a litter wider sole from the looks of it to me. I've played a ton of Mizuno irons over the years (currently gaming MP-54's and wanted to go back to something a little more workable) and if you haven't played Mizuno before you won't be disappointed in them! I've had 3-PW 919 Tours w/ PX 6.5 for a few weeks now - previously played Nike Vr Pro Blades for a loooong time. If you're looking for something close to a blade - with just a little more help than a traditional blade - I can't think of a better option tbh.

The look from address is quite compact. From a playability standpoint - I've noticed there to be some more forgiveness on low and toe-side strikes in particular. The soles are slightly wider than on a traditional blade - most noticeably in the short irons - but so far this hasn't been an issue for me at all. They're fantastic sticks.

I just sold my set that I played for a year. I went back to Ping i210s. I love the ease of the Ping. I played blades for a long time and the 919 Tour is similar in appearance and slightly more forgiving but not nearly as forgiving as the i210. They have the traditional forged feel which is hard to beat. I just play and score better with the i210 myself.

The 919F is a completely different club though.

I’ve had mine for about 4 or 5 weeks now and I absolutely adore them. Coming from the PING E i1 they’re smaller, thinner, feel much better and give me better shot-shaping. They’re harder to hit, and penalize much more than what I was used to. I would call them MB’s at best myself.

Slapping the ball around a bit, having loads of fun.

Funny, I had a similar experience. I traded my 900T during a +50% bonus trade in value promo for a more forgiving back up set; targeting the HMB.

Nothing wrong with the 919T either, they’re forgiving for a small segment and yes as previously mentioned, size and sole design are larger by MP standards.

I hit the i210 because it was offered to me and the LZ shaft was available. Of course with an open mind, the surprisingly soft feel, consistency, launch angles, spin rate, and tight dispersion pattern was ample evidence.

The ugly Ping look grew on me but they have their own identity. 2 months later, very happy with my set and actually replaced my gaming set Callaway Apex MB for my men’s league. Threw in the G410 2 iron and custom 3 i210 iron with no gapping issues and ready out of the box.

Ive been playing the 919T for about 6 months now - coming from an old set of Titleist CBs. IMO the 919Ts are as you described, blade like design with a little more forgiveness. As previously mentioned the sole is a bit wider than a typical MB which in my case is a positive. My accuracy improved after only a few rounds with these irons and I am still improving with them every round. Surprisingly I gained a bit of distance coming from the CBs as well. Great irons IMO

Beautiful clubs, I have the MP18 blades and thought of the 919's but right now I'm in the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" category.

I have had mine since the day they were released.

Amazing irons, for two years almost, I have not been properly tempted with any other iron; Ping blueprint or 921 Tours(if they are similar) are the only irons I have thought about.

To me a long time blade player since I was a kid - great looking, super forgiving, can flight high and low, usual Mizuno feel.

Good luck getting a set it seems now since they are replacing them real soon.

Currently in my 2nd full season with the 919T's

They're great clubs honestly. They slide right in that area between a forgiving blade, and a demanding cavity back

If you put a good swing on them, you cannot find a better set of clubs.

If you put a mediocre swing on them, they'll help you out a little bit, but not a ton

If you put a bad swing on them, you're going to know. Loss in distance, accuracy, etc.

I will say that in the long irons, they're deceptively easy to hit. They'll satisfy the visual aspect of a compact blade with a satin finish - but will still get the ball in the air and perform very well.

For reference I've played VR Pro's, P730's, Apex MB's, iBlade's, Vapor Pro's, and MC-501's; and these are the best irons I've hit

Just to report back, I finished the build and have now had a ranged session and a round under my belt with the 919T and I must say I am very impressed! Can work them both ways and flight them high or low just like a blade but as mentioned the long irons are sneaky forgiving. I don't see these leaving the bag for a longggg while. Just overall a great club. Great clubs!

Best clubs I have ever owned. I was intimidated with all this “they are close to blades not as forgiving” talk. But for me coming from Nike VPC’s and P790 taylor makes they were a cake walk to hit. Great turf interaction.

just get the right shaft for you in them. I believe that’s a big part of it. For me it was the notorious modus 120. Easiest iron shaft I have ever played.
