In the market for new x stiff 3 wood shaft. What are you playing?

Long time user of the AD-DI 8x but I've picked up some clubhead speed after some quarantine training and looking for something a little firmer. Hated to part with that thing but started balloon on me. For reference I'm playing a Hulk 6.5 driver shaft which I love and think that may have had something to do with timing of the DI which is significantly smoother. Would like something in the middle of the Hulk and DI. Let me know what you are all playing and think!

What comes to mind for me is the Diamana ZF 80TX  or even a Ventus blue 8x.

those would be More stout than di. They both have good feel too which is a bonus.

GD-AD TP 8X.  Gamed it in a Epic Flash 3w.

Definitely tighter feeling than DI and IZ, still feels Graphite Design smooth.

I use my 3 wood on 60% of the Par 4s under 425 yds.  The TENSEI Pro blue 70TX has been near automatic for me.  Smooth feeling with incredible control on full and bunt shots.  Great in both wind directions as well.  I previously used the Pro95 and the 757 TR

Theres a Hulk 80TX out there if you want to keep consistency in your wood shafts, but I'd be crazy not to recommend Ventus to you. I play black in all my woods, it's the best out there in my opinion.

It’s really that good huh? I feel like the loner at the party who can’t drink the punch because he has to drive. Everyone seems to rave about it. I tried the blue in driver and wanted it to be good but it was just a little lively in driver.

Your bag setup looks familiar.

I just recently swapped into Ventus Black in all my woods/hybrids and have nothing negative to say about them at all. They've been great. I haven't hit the red or the blue, but I'd imagine they'd be good for someone coming from a DI type profile. If guys out on the Korn Ferry, and Adam Scott can handle the red in a driver (testing it at least) it's probably pretty good in fairways as well.

I didn’t get along great with blue in driver either. Went with black and it was a much different result. There’s definitely a certain feel to each and black is my favorite of the bunch.

If we take the "on paper" approach, we can certainly see why you feel the way you do:

The hulk is stiffer virtually everywhere, so finding something to bridge that gap is pretty easy since there is a lot of space there.

The HZRDUS Red 75g looks like a fairway version of the Hulk on paper. Similar big stiffness bump going from butt to mid but just softer in the tip and a little less extreme all around.

Same deal here with the HZRDUS Black which is a super popular fairway shaft for some of the stronger guys since it basically looks like a beefed up and more linear AD-DI. This and the HZRDUS Red I think would be the most logical options.

The Ventus Black here is another great one as it is extremely similar to the Hulk in the lower mid and tip section, but softer and more linear everywhere else. This also looks alot like a "fairway version" of the Hulk on paper.

Fujikura Atmos Blue here, again a shaft that would play like a tighter, more linear version of the AD-DI and also looks like a fairway compliment to the Hulk.

Tensei Pro White which could be another good option.

Lots to choose from! Also don't rule out just sticking another Hulk in the fairway, or even the older T1100 which is similar in many ways. Hope that helps!

You just rocked my world. Off to buy everyone of these shafts on ebay 🙂

Highly recommend the Evenflow Black. Smoother than Hulk and HZRDUS in my opinion, but keeps launch and spin low and controllable. (Also don't recommend the Riptide, found it to be a bit inconsistent and had a tendency to spin a touch more than I wanted. YMMV.)

Alternatively, if you want a cheaper experiment I suggest Aldila NV 85X and Matrix RUL 80x from the older days.

This one was on my radar and looks like you can find some for relatively cheap.
