Miura 009 Putter with Torched Oil Can Finish and Flow Neck by Norcal

OMG, I had to share. Carlos from Norcal Putters just did an insanely cool torched oil can finish on my Miura KM-009 putter, and I think I'm in love!

 

I've got another Byron Morgan Epic Day getting his Aged Copper finish, but this one I was the most nervous about. It came out way better than I ever could have imagined.

 

Anyone thinking about what finish to get, should seriously consider this option. Truly 1 of 1. Will post the Byron when it's finished.

 

Big thanks to Carlos at Norcal for communicating with me every step of the way and putting up with all my questions. Can't wait to game it!

I saw that this morning and the neck was definitely giving me ideas for my 006 which is the LH version of this. I really like the 006 but a flow neck like this I'd game it more, but now have to decide if I was to send it in or find another 006 to sacrifice.

Nice! Love the look of the 006 and imagine its pretty similar, just put together the wrong way (LH/RH). Lol.

 

Totally understand maybe not wanting to mess with it, but winter is upon us, so just go for it!

Very similar, I think a thicker top line because I believe the 006 is actually in the 360g range. I'll maybe get to it later in the long winter I'm going to have, currently working on another custom and need to sell some extra stuff just collecting dust.

Oh yeah, the 009 is also 360g stock, HOWEVER, when you cut a sound slot in it, it takes about 10g of metal with it. Hence the 350g stamp I have on this one. 😉

I see now, curious on the sound the slot gives. These have a pretty solid but muted sound normally, just curious how clicky it became.

Both of those look great. I’ve never owned a putter with a sound slot...how would you guys describe the difference it makes?

Personally speaking, a cut through the face felt firmer. A cut through the flange felt softer. From an audible perspective a cut through the face was louder as well. That is just my experiences though.

Very nice, it provides a lot of food for thought if I find a putter worth refinishing. My Classic Newport is subtle but obvious failure, so it's down to an Oil Can Newport or a heavy Wilson 8813.
