Thanks man, appreciate it! After a ton of turnover my bag is starting to stabilize and my game is starting to come together! Really love the RTX Zipcore wedges, TP Soto putter, and being back together with the Rogue Driver and 3W is going to be really good!

 

The SIM 2 Max Hybrid and I are starting to get along as well, and it should be really good. The only thing I might change on the horizon is to consider ordering Srixon ZX5 in the 4 & 5 iron, or picking up a ZX5/ZX7 combo set after the season when the demand for them cools off a bit. Like the 785’s a lot, but finding the long irons pretty unforgiving.

Thanks for the kind words, definitely appreciate it!! You’re right, the journey to learn the ins & outs of golf equipment is as complicated (if not more so) than learning the game of golf!

 

Don’t know where I would be without everything I’ve learned from all my fellow WRX’rs, especially during the last 16 months with golf shops and fitters being shut down most of the time…it’s been a wild ride!!

Haha…no, I don’t feel bad at all. I fought going back to the Rogues all season and really wanted the other 3 Drivers and 3-Woods since then to work, but now that I made the move back it’s just pure relief and joy!! 😎😎

 

All about finding the best fit for your own individual swing and game at the end of the day…I realize now that’s all that matters!

I knew you would go back to the Rogue. congratulations on the low round with the Rogue's back in the bag. I am still loving my Mavrik Subzero 9* and Mavrik 15* 3 wood. I did change the shafts to a 7x UST Proforce v2 in the driver and a 8x Ust V2 in my 3 wood. I also just ordered a Rogue for my 11 Year old son.  Only thing in my bag that is it safe is my hybrid want a Callaway or a ping crossover. And the wedges not that I don't like my wedges it's time for new ones I have had my Cleveland wedges in the bag for 3 years.

Good to hear you’re still loving the Mavriks…definitely all about finding the right fit! Hope your son loves the Rogue as much as I do and as much as you love the Mavrik!

Here’s my new experiment in the long irons…picked up a Srixon ZX5 4-iron w/ Modus 120 shaft and ordered a ZX5 5-iron also from Srixon Canada that I’ll try and combo with my Z 785 6-PW.

 

Loving the 785’s for their smoothness, accuracy, and most importantly the feel! Downside is that the 4 & 5-irons are extremely tough to hit and very unforgiving. So I’ll try this combo out, and if it doesn’t work out will probably get ZX7’s in the 6-PW or just do a full set of ZX5’s…time will tell!

Alright my WRX friends, I’ve finally made the decision to lock in my bag and commit to this setup for the rest of the 2021 season! I’m doing this for the betterment of my game, and for my own mental health since I’ve come to realize that I’m absolutely addicted to buying clubs, Lol!

 

Since my last WITB, I’ve bought and sold an additional 10 clubs which brings my totals for the last 14 months to 70 clubs owned 55 clubs sold, and 9 bags bought/sold/returned. 

Sometime between now and the end of the season, I’ll do a Driver fitting to make sure I’m fully dialed in for the Driver spot, but I’ll keep working with this set up until the snow starts falling and focus on my game rather than changing clubs.

 

Here’s by WITB 2021 Pt. IV, Final Edition:

Both the aftermarket putter covers I have were bought from Amazon.ca 

 

The Canadian Flag cover is made by Foretra, and my other putter cover is called “Fore the Birds” by E9 Golf.

 

Love them both…both really high quality builds and both have magnetic closures which I much prefer over velcro!

Thanks, much appreciated! Looove the Zipcores for sure, they’re just so smooth and the feel is off the charts!

 

I’m pretty meticulous when it comes to keeping my clubs clean. I clean them after every round w/ All-Purpose cleaner and paper towel. Some people might think it’s OCD, but I find it relaxing and love the look of clean, shiny clubs! 😎

A couple of updates since my last WITB on 8/16. I know I said I would keep working with the same setup “until the snow starts falling”, but what can I say…I’m a club addict and I’m not good at convincing myself to stay loyal to clubs, Lol!!

 

I’ve got a Driver fitting scheduled at TXG on September 9th and can’t wait to get a professional opinion on what Driver and shaft I should actually be using. I’ve been on their waiting list since November 2020, and am on my 6th Driver in the last 16mths, so very excited to finally get in there and find the proper fit!

 

The other update is that I absolutely LOVE my ZX5 4 and 5-irons, and am starting to hit some awesome shots with them. So I’m going All-In on the ZX series and put in an order for a ZX7 6-PW w/ Modus3 120 shafts through Srixon Canada! 
 

Not that I don’t like the Z 785’s, but they are pretty unforgiving and very punishing on mishits. The ZX5 4-5 combo with ZX7 6-PW should be just what I need, and can’t wait to get them here!!

Oh, and I also picked up this well-worn beauty the other day…my first ever 5-Wood!

 

Going to test it out and put it head-to-head vs my SIM 2 Max Hybrid for a spot in the bag, or could potentially switch them in & out depending on course. We’ll see!

Well, it was an amazing equipment day yesterday everybody! Did my first Driver fitting at TXG to try and get the top of my bag sorted out, and it was a great experience!

 

Got fitted for the Callaway Epic Max LS or the PING G425 LST, both 10.5 degree with 60 S shafts with a smooth profile.

 

Would’ve considered the G425 LST and liked the extra weight in the head, but they didn’t have any in stock at my local shop, plus I have successful history w/ Cally Drivers, so picked up a Max LS w/ the Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 shaft!

 

Also got a special delivery from Srixon Canada…my new ZX7 6-PW with Modus Tour 120’s came in only 11 days (they sent a ZX5 6-iron that I originally ordered and tried to change, but will switch it for a ZX7)! 
 

I’ve definitely maxed out the equipment budget for the year a couple of times over, but as they say….YOLO!!! 😉😎

Yeah, seems like Srixon’s supply chain issues have fully cleared up! My last order for a ZX5 5-iron came in 10 days, and this order of ZX7 6-PW came in 11 days from order date to delivery…pretty darn good!

 

The TXG fitting was a really good experience! I got fitted by Dean in their Mississauga location, and he was very patient and understanding working through my Driver swing issues, and psychological stuff I’ve been pushing through because of the slump I’ve been in.
 

Very much like a coach working with a player who’s going through a Shooting slump, he helped me with some mechanical issues and helped me find a Driver and shaft that should be excellent fits moving forward while I get my Tee box game back on track…highly recommend them for sure!

Glad you enjoyed TXG and I can keep recommending them to others. I haven't been fit by Dean but everyone there is quality and it's nice that they're so patient. So many people worry about looking good in front of a fitter and they're there to help you get better, so bad shots is good if they can fix that. 

 

I'm curious to hear how that works out for you cause I have to go back in there myself for some stuff.

Yeah, I had a 100% better experience at TXG vs Modern Golf, and there’s no doubt which one I would recommend!

 

The fitter I worked with at Modern Golf was also a really good guy and a good fitter, but what I had a problem with was their hardcore sales approach to apply maximum pressure to place an order immediately afterwards! Best way I can compare it is when you go to a timeshare presentation and they try to not let you leave until you buy something.

 

TXG was the total opposite, 0 pressure to buy at all, and it was all about what was best for my game, and building a long term relationship. I’ll be going to TXG for my fitting needs in the future 10 times out of 10 over Modern Golf, no brainer!!

Special shout out and thank you to Srixon Canada!! Last week when I received my order that was supposed to be ZX7 6-PW, they accidentally sent a ZX5 6-iron that I had originally ordered and changed to a ZX7.

 

That was on Friday, now 5 days later I received not only a ZX7 6-iron, but also 5 extra Lamkin Crossline Midsize grips that I originally requested in my order that were out of stock at the time!!
 

I wasn’t expecting the extra grips, or for the replacement club to come in only 5 days!! With this type of service and appreciation Srixon is showing me, I will be showing it right back!

 

Also placed an order for a ZX7 A-Wedge as well today, because I am absolutely in LOVE with my ZX7’s!! 😍😍

I’ve been thinking lately about trying a milled face putter, so have been doing research and rolling different putters at the  shop.

 

For me the top 2 contenders were the Bettinardi BB8F and the EVNROLL ER 1.2 Tour Blade.

 

In the end this beauty won out with it’s feel and consistency off the face, and overall look and performance!

 

Really like my TP Collection SOTO, so not guaranteed the EVNROLL will win out, but the initial impressions are very good!
