PXG 0211 vs Srixon ZX5?

I’ll give you “my” opinion. I have the Gen1 0211 irons and also Srixon 565 irons...not exactly to your question but very close. For me with very similar shafts they perform nearly identical. The long irons of the 0211 are a little easier to hit but the feel of the Srixons is what the deciding factor was for me. Now don’t get me wrong the 0211 feel great for a cast club, but the forging on the Srixon is just better especially in the scoring clubs. But I wouldn’t hesitate to bag either (I do 😬😂).

I also play PXG Gen1 0211. I got some Z565's to tinker with this winter.  I needed them like another hole in the head.

i am debating this now after hitting the z765. did i hit it better, no. but hey, newer and shinier

Not apples to apples, but I just hit gen 3 p’s and zx5’s at club champion and I thought the p’s felt softer, but I had better dispersion from the zx5’s. That’s me hitting each head 4 times, so quality of strike is a big variable.

I tried 0211, didn’t get along with them. Tested (on grass) ZX5 and ZX7, ended up hitting short irons best in ZX7, and the ZX5 6i is working well. Have a ZX5 5i coming to see where I fall off, but also thinking of trying ZX7 6i to see how far down the set I can comfortably hit.

 

Where the ZX7 wins for me is hitting on real grass - my swing and the narrower v-sole get along well. Others certainly find the opposite, but hitting off a mat won’t really tell you that.

I demoed the 2021 0211s for four rounds and the ZX5s (bought a 7 iron). The 0211s are nice irons. They are forgiving and long. The ZX5 was another level. Better feel (felt softer with more control) and I ended up going with a combo set of ZX5s and ZX7s, which are also incredible. The less offset, shorter blade length and sole design were just better for me. 0211s are a nice club however.

Great minds.  Same boat here 🤷🏼‍♂️  Tried Gen 4 against zx 5 &7.  Loved both.  Was seeing slightly better numbers w PXG especially on mishits. I liked the look of srixon though.  I just can’t decide right now and it’s killing me and PXG about to drop Gen 5. 😩😂😂

I played the ZX5's with Recoil shafts last year and was very impressed as I thought I would try something with a bit more forgiveness and great feel that the Srixon's gave me. I have a set of the 0311 Gen 4 XP 5-GW with MMT shafts order and will be here next week, I know the lofts are jacked up and that is fine so I will get more distance. Getting into my mid 60's I just felt like it's time for a change and see what all the PXG hype was about as the price range is within my budget where I can justify spending what I did on them. I will miss the ZX5's for sure but the Hero's program was hard to resist.
