The Stack System

I'm starting to see where I'm going to struggle keeping this up during the season. I am now starting my second week off, played four days in a row this past weekend plus mixing in rest days and workouts. Hitting it so much better on the course - which is all I really care about - but I can definitely see how I'm going to make less progress in terms of moving through the next program.

Fit For Golf app is still a great companion to this IMO - the "five minute workouts" have been excellent.

Came here to ask about surfaces as I have just purchased the stack. What have people found is a good/acceptable surface to do this on if you can't do it on grass and don't have a simulator area?

I stood on the edge of the driveway and swung over the grass.  Used golf shoes, with ridges not spikes, worked great.

I bought the junior model so I can swing it in my basement - 8' ceilings. Sneakers/normal carpet.

I'm just currently swinging in the garage with tennis shoes on at the moment due to winter weather. Just trying to get a little sweat going before heading into garage

Sasho McKenzie was on the Chasing Scratch podcast recently, and he said for him during the season it’a like once a week for maintenance and he’ll lose a little speed during the season.

Last year during the spring/summer my golf game suffered because of overtraining in the gym. This year I’m going to try to stick to 1 heavy day in the gym for strength maintenance and 1-2 stack sessions per week with some smaller workouts as needed.

Would the app ever be compatible to android in the near future?

When I started in the Fall, I was told no. I use an old beat up ipad and just keep it in my basement as my Stack/FFG ipad. Its fine but its definitely annoying in 2023 that you have a platform-specific app like this.

Those of you who have the PRGR HS130A, did you enter it as the red pocket or the black pocket. They call it the red eyes, but it's a black housing so I have no idea. I've attached a picture of what I have. I'm sure there is not much difference.

So only 5 sessions in my first program (Full Speed Spectrum) but at our winter sim league I play in last night I broke my PB Ball Speed 3 times in first 9 holes. Nice to see it transitioning some to club and ball so quickly. Excited for more progression (hopefully) and this weather to get nice and actually get outside to play.

After some solid initial gains during my first few weeks with the Stack I think I have reached a plateau.  Anyone have any similar experiences during Foundations and when were the next gains experienced?

Started at eSpeed of 100 and the app has me at 110 eSpeed now.  6 more workouts to go in the Foundations program.  Grit score at 97%.

TIA!

Question on this:

Last year I purchased the RypStick system.

Around the same time, I got injured (unrelated) and now I'm ready to return to overspeed training.

I know understand the companion value of the Stack App.

Can I use the Stack App with the Ryp hardwear, or am I going to encounter some kind of "gotcha" ?  Asking because I quickly saw a place to enter a serial number.

There are dedicated weight zones that the stack system recommends, and based on your inability to improve changes the weight quite drastically to help you regain that improvement.

Also, the serial number is directly from the Device you’d need to order

Right, thank you.

So, I got that far.

I'll reduce the question to something smaller.

If you don't have a serial number, can you use the app?

So I dont understand...how you would.

The app is built entirely on changing weights to specific amounts. from 165g to 20g to 200g. Why would you want to use the app if you couldnt follow along? The Rypstick is nothing like that IIRC - their weights are like 400gs and up.

for the guys with the stack and mevo+ how far away are you setting the unit? it didn't seem to read any swings at the normal 8' and at 5' (which i found from a sasho video) had 15mph slower speeds then what i get during a range session on the mevo+

My Stack app says 7'. I mark a spot on the ground to swing over after making sure the Mevo+ is aligned properly. I rarely get a missed swing or bad numbers.

Thought there was zero chance to get any PR’s this session after a long weekend and bad day but snuck out multiple and I am 1/4 way through the first program and up 9! Way faster than I assumed this whole process would go.

Is there a secret to swing this thing fast like in „you need to go through a getting-used-to-phase“?

I‘m asking because my driver swing speed is currently around 103, but my eSpeed after three sessions is 97. I actually really struggle to swing this thing fluently!

That means you’re actually behind on your actual driver swing, you should be about 106mph

There is a getting used to phase for many.  It can take a few weeks for people to get used to swinging without hitting something and let your body take that governor off.

I think your delta of 6 mph is pretty small so you should get adjusted in a few more sessions.

I had delta of 7 to 8 mph eSpeed to what I swung a driver at with a ball after baseline testing.  I am now 2 to 3 mph ahead of that delta (+10 mph eSpeed gain per the app overall) with 4 sessions left in my initial program.

From the Stack website:

"Why is my driver speed not the same as my eSpeed? . . . Please compare eSpeed to your driver speed when not hitting a ball. This would be the case in the Baseline driver swings. Prior to speed training it is common for clubhead speed to be much slower without ball contact."

No sir. Add 9mph to your eSpeed

Depends on the length of driver being used by the player, but that is a decent ballpark number.

Does anyone want to offer some words of encouragement... I think this chart is trending the wrong way. I'm also noticing the same at the range. I was 'cruising' at 107. My new cruising speed is 103, 104. This is my second program now (Foundation->Neural Drive), and 98mph was my baseline eSpeed on day 1.

Not much has changed, still working out with the same volume, still practicing the same amount, and getting proper sleep...

Just an update. I took a week off from my fitness routine and focused on just speed training and technique range sessions.

Since my last post, I was 104, 103, 106 eSpeed

I *THINK* I found my issue. While filming my swing at the range, I noticed I was getting really, really, really steep on my takeaway. I went back and looked at older videos I had of myself, and sure enough, I was quickest when I was shallow. My coach and I have been working on other things lately, and my takeaway has begun to steepen, correlating to a dramatic drop in speed.

I hit 106 eSpeed this morning, and for the fun of it, I filmed my session. I still got too steep, but it was better.

Anyway, adding the gym back in next week, focusing on my takeaway, and seeing where that gets me.

Awesome news and good to hear! That could probably easily corelate to some speed loss. I just pretend I'm Bryson, say a few bad words about myself, and get that radar as high as possible (on max swings) never once thought about form.

Going to get my session in a little later today before I head out to my winter sim league and hopefully continue the climb!
