PXG 0211 fairway woods

Played my first round with 0211 fairways this weekend. 3 wood was very easy to hit off the fairway and had a very nice penetrating ball flight. Distance was about 240, normal driver carry is 255.

Face doesn’t feel hot, but extremely solid feeling. Came from a SIM Max 3 wood and face was not as hot as that club.

Did you see a distance difference between the 2 3-woods?

I have the 0211 3W, playing it 0.5inch shorter at D1 with the 17.5g weight in it to get it to that SW. I was coming from the Cobra F9 3W, that one also shorter as well.

In terms of the head, I don't see much difference. Do you really expect much difference? I like the rails on the bottom of the 0211, just like how the cobra has it. I mainly use it off the deck, I hit my driver on average 220-240, these are legit distances tracked with my Garmin and so I need a 3 wood to get it close on a long par 4 or par 5. I'm not skilled enough to land a 3 wood on the green consistently but I'm just trying to get it close so I can chip it onto the green. I like using a high launch shaft, so I paired it with the PX Riptide CB R Flex that comes with no upcharge and I really like it.

Played the Gen2 previously and tried the 0211 this year, but found a Proto 3w from PXG Express on eBay for a great deal and have sold the Gen2 and 0211 3 woods as a result of how good the Proto 3w is.

The Gen2 is very solid feeling, like hitting a wood bat.  The 0211 more springy feeling like a double-wall softball bat but didn't produce the extra distance that seems to be in the Proto.  The Proto is a combination of both but slightly more hollow feeling, but the ball really flies off of the Proto face.  Nice high launch for me and seems to be directionally very good.  Distance seems to be easier to get from the Proto than from the Gen2 or 0211.

Gen2 was the lowest spinning, lowest launch of the bunch.  0211 was the highest spinning and similar launch to the Proto.  Proto seems to be a good mix of both.

I prefer the look of the Proto and the white marks on the face are surprisingly effective in framing the ball.  Would have never thought that but when you put it down behind the ball it just makes sense.

For now, I'm toying with a Tensei Pro Blue and a GD Tour AD-TP to see which shaft gets to run with the Proto.  Extra weights are supposed to arrive soon, so that is the other facet of the Proto is the 3 large weights rather than the multitude of small weights on the Gen2 or the one weight on the 0211.  The Proto  is one of the nicer 3 woods I have hit in quite some time and an improvement over the Gen2 in pretty much every category for me.

0211 is a decent fairway wood but it is more round in appearance and distance, direction, etc. is similar to other fairway woods I have hit, but nothing special.  Great club for the price but nothing that jumps out at you like the Proto or even the Gen2.  The 0211 is just a solid club that should produce solid results for many.

Gen2 is a great head but for me I was struggling to get some higher launch and spin even from a 16* 3 wood head that I had picked up.  Proto appears to have fixed that and what I plan on playing this season.

Definitely the thread I have been looking for this week.

I'm considering making a change from my 2016 M2 fairway (15* Matrix Black Tie 6M4) to something that is a little more forgiving, adjustable (so I can turn stronger if I'm using it more from the tee), and a little easier to hit off the fairway.  The Mavrik seemed a little large (that's what I was looking at too).

I can't seem to find that the overall size of the club is (M2 is 156cc).  Does anyone know what it is?  I've reached out the PXG and didn't hear anything back yet.

I think that the 15* with HZRDUS Yellow 60g stiff is what I've been most looking at, but I like the idea of the Riptide shaft.

I am seriously thinking of a 5 and 7 turned down 1* each..it's like $250 for both, but I might go hit them first. I'm pretty sure what I'm looking for, but it might be worth the try.

I got tired of the inconsistency of my hybrid strike and recently went to a 0211 7 wood. This is my first foray into the 7wood realm but I like it.  I am a pretty good fairway player so I already feel more confident over the &wood than I do over a hybrid.  As for performance, I chose he 0211 because it has a great peak height but does not balloon in the air.  The face has a very solid sound/feel to it.  While the club does not feel/sound hot, it is carrying about 208 - 212 which is exactly what I wanted it for.  I have the Hxrdus black RDX 6.0 in there and it helps me keep the spin down I think.  As someone else mentioned earlier, the rails come in handy when hitting he club off the deck.  I may see 0211 replacing my Ping G425 3 wood.  The 0211 is pretty forgiving and is proving to be pretty reliable.

I’m interested to hear reviews of this. Since they use a similar adapter to Ping this is a model that you can increase or decrease loft while making the lie angle flatter.

i am actually paying the 7 wood in the flattest setting available.  Manufacturers tend to make the 7 woods with a closed face but I don't need that kind of "help".  I moved it to the flat lie setting on Saturday and hit some pretty good shots with it.  I'm going to make a minor adjustment to swingweight because PXG built it to D0.5 and I am more comfortable at D3.  Other than that, the flat lie is the ticket!
