I'm half way through a potentially dandy recap.

I believe the color change this fall is more brilliant than in years past. Monday's trip to Black Mountain was filled with spectacular color all around. Tuesday when I headed to Tryon I must go down the Saluda Pass. I have mentioned it before. It takes you from 2326 ft. in the  AVL to 994 ft. in the upstate of SC. The interstate leads you down a steep 7% grade stretch that is split in two sections 3 miles apart. It is just before the SC state line. This area features a deep gorge with a very tall bridge the interstate travels over. The hillsides of that gorge were just popping with color. In the past two days I covered 155 miles and during most of my driving I witnessed plenty of nature's splendor.

Fall is beautiful.

I got there with the normal allotted time for a solid warm up. On the range things seemed normal. Ball contact was solid and drives were straight. This was to be the second round with (I know again 😁 I'm kind of on a Ho trip) some new irons. When I moved over to practice putting I asked Mike to please come over as I wanted to ask an accomplished putter a question. I told him I was instructed by another revered golfer friend  of mine to take the putter back far less than I normally do, and that I started two weeks ago to make the change. I asked him if he thought I was too long going back with my stroke,  and if so then we know now I am decelerating. Decel makes for quite inconsistent distance control. Mike's response was this, " It's simple LP, one part going back - two parts going forward." So he put me through 10 minutes of drills to help me feel the sensation. I left the practice green confident, but I am always very comfortable putting the greens at Links O Tryon.

63* partly cloudy skies w/ a 10 mph wind.

We teed off at 12:45

Top 5 shots of the year on back to back days in November ?

A fairway and a green with two putts from 25 feet to start with a par. Again the same on two. It was evident early that the confident driver swing I was lacking at Black Mountain was available out of the gate on the tee boxes of Tryon. On the third hole a par five I got a little sloppy and made bogey 6. On the 4th, our first par 3, I purred a 5 iron to 15 feet. Drained it..... birdie one. Hit fairways consistently and greens as well for the remainder of the front 9. There were no other birdies. Made the turn with a two over 38.

The back 9  tomorrow night.

I'm in. I decided to take a ride with our man from Big Sky country. The boat is sitting so low in the water because when we stopped at the bait shop this afternoon Pete asked me about how many beers I would consume over the remainder of the day. I told him 4. He bought 3 cases.

Give me INDY and Prime Time it please.

Today one of my favorite out of state members rolled in with 11 guys for a long golf weekend. Their afternoon round didn't happen because the weather today in the AVL was more akin to something you would find in Duluth Minnesota this time of year. Cloudy with drizzle and mist 38*.  Horrible, but the weather will steadily improve over the course of their stay. Our new sunny with temps in the 60's weather pattern that takes hold Saturday will be hanging around into early next week. That is welcome news for I'm planning on playing 3 rounds in a row beginning on the 8th. 😉

Mr. Atlanta says to me I heard Nick Price was here last month LP. Yes he was Mr. W. and what a fine gentlemen Mr. Price is, was my reply.  It then it hit me that I have been meaning to write my recap of his visit here on our thread and still have not done so.

Here it finally is.

I was told by Parker that Nick Price is know throughout the Pro Golfer World as an awesome guy. Tell him we've been friends a long time LP, Chef suggested.

Mr. Price walked into the locker room the first morning with his team from Florida. I saw many of the Pro/Member participants walk up and welcome him. Kind of a mini mob scene that he is used to I would think. It was my plan to maybe later that afternoon if our paths should cross say hello. He checked in with the pro shop.  I was doing some busy work when as he walked up he said, Hello I'm Nick Price and I am excited to be here. We shook hands. I told him I was going to let him settle in bit for his first day, but at some time during the weekend I was going to approach him as I had a few things to share with him.  I first told Mr. Price that I attended the inaugural President's Cup held at the then new RTJ Club in Manassas, Va. I told him that I was a fan of his back then and was stoked to see him play in person finally, even though I was pulling for the Yanks of course. I told him we had a mutual good friend who was involved with Tour players. He asked, who would that be Lawrence? I said oh this British rugby player/boxer looking guy who is also rather handy in the kitchen. Mr. Price had a puzzled look on his face. I'm talking about Chef Parker Mr. Price. Oh my lord he responds, and asks just how do you know the Chef LP? Well he and I opened a casino together in Vegas in 1997. We worked very hard there and would have a few letting off steam pops after work together here and there. Parker and I also tee'd it up. We have remained good friends. That sort of broke the ice for the weekend.

He and I had about 4 good chats. He told me that course was very special and that he had never seen better fairways anywhere. Quite the compliment. He loved the historical tie to the place with Ben Hogan. I took him to see some of the more tucked away Hogan photos and memorabilia. As Mr. Price was departing he says to your commish,

" LP I have African blood in me and I have Florida blood in me as well, so this is just too cold of weather to play in. But I truly love the course and the history of the place so I will be back to see you next summer."

He shot a 69 his first go at BFCC

it was 55 degrees and breezy during the tournament

I got to experience in person what so many say, Nice Price is an awesome guy.

The post above and the typing involved has once again pushed back my recap of the back 9 from Tuesday. That will be tomorrow.

Now I have to watch some of the action that brings myself and P3P a tidy pair of w's. I thought more might have been with the Colts tonight.

Just seeing the Pen's beat the across the state Flyer's in OT tonight.  Well that makes P3P happy and probably will provide some luck for his pick in tonight's game.

Just informing yinz of a random hockey score. 😃

Two points a piece for P3P and LP last night. Good start to week 9 for two of us.

Speaking of 9, I will now fill you on what happened on holes 10 through 18 back on Tuesday down in Tryon. I left you with me at 2 over at the turn with one birdie, one 3 jack, and two singles on my card. Number 16 is slightly downhill. It has a firm fairway the allows your drive to roll on forever. I hit one 260 there this week. My longest drive of the year. I was very consistent with driver for the entire round.

One more glass of wine, a puff or two, and I'll tell ya what happened.

I played after work tonight and just got it in.  low light to finish for sure . It was 45*.

Shot 81 with 4 three putts.

Top 5 shots of the year on back to back days in November.

What do I say to myself when I reach the tenth tee with a decent round going? I say make par here on the hardest hole and you might be on to something for the round. I hit a fine tee shot. I tried to cut hard a hybrid in from 175 but it only took a medium cut so it ended up pin high on some hard pan semi gravel stuff by the cart path. This side of 10 green I had never been on. I put the sw back in my stance and purred the perfect twenty foot low nipper that checked hard and stopped inside a foot of the cup. Par 4 on 10. That was touch S8 i T .

On eleven I hit fairway and green and two putted nicely from 20 feet on account of the semi severe slope I contended with. Hole 12 is a slightly up hill Par 3 that was playing 164 yards. The green is table top and has deep bunkers all around. The pin was in the middle back. I pulled 5 iron and sent a very pure absolutely straight laser shot headed right for the pin. I hits 18 feet out and two hops. We all here it kiss the stick. Some start saying he aced it. Mike pulls out the bushnell's and takes a peek. He is sorry to announce it looks to be inside a foot. Sucks but still a Top 5 shot of the year. Awful special sound hitting the stick when you know the shot landed in front of the pin enough that it certainly had a chance. We walk up to the green and my smooth 5 iron tee shot is sitting inside one inch of the lip. Yes I tell the truth it should have dropped but instead was just there on the edge of the cup. I drop my hands to my knees and let out some sort of agonizing loud moan. So so close. Birdie #2 on the day, and again on a par 3. It kind of hits me then that maybe it ended up sitting on the edge rather than dropping in because of my plea with the golf Gods the last time I made a hole in one. Two years ago I made an ace on number 7 at Tryon, it was my second after my first came back in the Vegas days. I also met Mike that day. I was new to the golf course and didn't know a soul. Just an Asheville golfer seeking a tad warmer conditions in winter and I ended up making life long golf buddies. So Solid!  My plea to the Gods was please don't give me a third hole in one before you at least let me break par for one round. I have told this before. I have never shot in red numbers for 18 holes. I can get to 3 or 4 under once in a blue moon but I will then throw up on myself and finish even..... it always happens. I have heard from opponents for few seasons now that I would do it eventually because of my decent game, but it still has failed to happen. So that I believe caused my fantastic shot to end up on the card as a 2 and not a 1.

One over as I headed to the 13th a short dogleg par 4 with the pond in front of the narrow green front to back. 5 wood off the tee and a 9 iron to 11 feet. That banked slider dropped for a 3. Two in a row and now even. Uphill par 5 next. Solid drive. Pure 3 wood. 8 iron to 15 feet. Drained another. Three birds in a row and now I am at one under. 3 putted the next hole for bogey. On the finishing holes I played solid as ever tee to green but all three medium range birdie putts failed to drop. I ended the day even with a 72. Yeah it happened again.......I saw no red number in the end. During the round I felt very light and carefree and so much of the shots seemed automatic. That mental state was quite enjoyable. I experience it playing less than 10 times a year probably. It's a grand golf high. Mike gave me praise at the end of the round as he said I was more on today than he had seen in a long time. It was my lowest score in a long time gents.

The start of November always holds a bit of extra special magic for the scorpio's. I cashed some in last Tuesday.

I was all smiles driving back up the mountains through glorious colors once more.

I am ok with him deciding what to do with his body.  Not ok with him beating around the bushes.
He’s being a bit of a flake here. Gonna cost them a win.
Green Bay has a terrible offensive line. Aaron Rodgers gets rid of the ball quick. Can you say the same about Jordan Love?  I would say not Rodgers quick, No.

KC has a middling defense but they should still rattle Love enough to get the cover

Look for Aaron Jones and Dillon to get more involved

Mahomes will battle through his demons enough the get a cover in this one at Arrowhead Give Me the Chiefs over the Packers -2.5

I don’t think the QB situation in New Orleans will be as big of a factor as one might think in this game.  Sean Peyton will have them ready to play and that defense is special. I see a world of hurt for Matt Ryan as he plays without his number one receiver allowing the Saints to roll coverage over to Kyle Pitts. I expect more Mike Davis and less passing. Patterson will be their only other option.
Taking the Saints and a ton of Kamara in the short passing game.
Watch out for Ingram and a couple of play action passes to Callaway for long gains and a touchdown.
Saints -6

Oh no Cardinals are banged up but the Niners are nursing some injuries as well. Murray is trending to not playing and Green And D Hop are out and questionable at best for D Hop.  I could see a lot of passes to Chase Edmonds and The very fast Rondale Moore and some plays with Captain Kirk.

The Niners might be without their superstar receiver Deebo Samuel but I have been dying to see them get Brandon Aiyuk more involved he has speed also.
They have a more than capable Running back with Mitchell. But he has a rib issue but still should play.
I think the Niners win this one outright Give me the Niners +2.5

I like the Rams -7 to cover also. Their defense is loaded now. Looking like the NFC champs this year. Not even Brady will be able to stop them.
And I predict the WFT will not be beaten this week. On A roll now!
