The Bills seem undisciplined and rely on a young QB with a gun to do everything. That can’t last forever. Their defense wis good but not when they keep coming on the field. 
AFC is a crap shoot. I said the Raiders were a team on the rise even before Gruden got canned.  Looks like that might be true. To bad about Ruggs. Awful lapse of good judgment. 
Teddy Bridgewater quietly has Denver playing solid football at this moment. Their defense is balling out. 
Bottom line whoever wins the NFC is your Super Bowl champion.

I think it's time to ditch the netminder BS about who sits in a net for an expansion team when on this night the Great 8 is now in elite status as the 4th highest goal scorer in the history of the NHL and he happens to play for my beloved Caps. The only real quality franchise in the Washington DC area.  So a tip of the cap please to the Great 8 who still can let it fly that one timer from the wing as it rockets past even the best goalies in the league...Caps are scrapping this year. Indeed they are the only quality pro team in the Nation's Capitol. I know you have been a fan for decades going back to Rod Langway and the Landover, Maryland Capitals KB. You've always been a strong supporter of the DC NHL team.

OK, I have to weigh in. Ovechkin is a dirty player. His goal count should be much lower bc 8/10 hits he leaves hit feet and launches at the target hitting them high. Anyone else (see Tom Wilson) gets penalties and fines, Ovie gets the, “He scores goals and plays hard!”

 

He is a one trick pony, with moments where something else happens, but he settles into the left circle and shoots one timers. Arguably the best at this skill, but in reality he is at the same level as Brett Hull.  Great for sure but should never be in conversation of greatest or best player in the league.  In my eyes, the best hockey player on the Caps is Backstrom who busts his a** every night to feed the beast.

 

He is a product of his team, he doesn’t make the teammates around him better.  Give me Sid, McKinnon, or McJesus to build a team and Ovie will get his goals, but will retire with his one Cup when his team was good and he rode along with them.

When I posted last night my question of who was in the Net for the expansion team Krakens my objective was to ignite a little NHL discussion on the thread. It worked. Though I am one who watches very little NHL action until the playoffs, and I certainly do not know enough about about the sport to weigh in, I do very much enjoy the discussions that on occasion show up on our thread among you dudes that do know hockey.

Quick Hockey Takes:

 

1.  My Habs are 4-10-1.  Disappointed but for the few games I've seen and listened to they have played hard.  Carey Price is missed (obviously) but so is Shea Weber on D and the PP and for just being mean.

 

2.  All goalie pads should be reduced immediately.  I realize the players have gotten larger in general but their protection makes them look like sumo wrestlers.  We saw Anaheim play the Canes a few seasons ago and John Gibson who is 6'2'' 205 lbs basically filled the whole net!  And he is probably an average-sized goalie!!

 

3.  All home teams should wear their white sweaters for home games.  It is much more exciting for the fan to see the various colors of the opponents as opposed to them wearing white while the home team wears the color.  For example,  it's cool to see the orange of the Flyers, the yellow of the Preds, the red of the Wings, the blue of the Lightning,  hell even the black of the Bruins.  When they step out on the ice and fly around during warmups it's a thrill.  After a few Canes games that thrill is diminished...here come a white team (boooo) hear come the Canes wearing red (yeaaa)!  OOOOH wait Carolina is wearing their alternate black tonight...oh joy...even less color (white vs. black).

Once again on a Saturday I find myself helping put a wedding together at BFCC. Here we see the groomsmen hoisting up the man who's big day it is. Once the wedding is underway I am grabbing a golf cart and myself and two coworkers are playing 9 holes. It will be my debut of winter warrior commish on the course today as it is 45* with 15 mph winds here in the AVL this afternoon. I will move up to the senior tee's and battle the elements. No I am not being hockey player tough, but I can never be called a sissy fair weather golfer either, no sir.

 

Going out summoning my inner Finnish Viking DNA  ........also with multiple layers on. 😀

P3P my man, you are absolutely right! Ovi by nature is not a team player, I mean there is a reason the call the red circles on either side of the net "his office" because all he is one timers. He's never in the paint picking up the loose change, setting screens in front of the net, never doing any of the "dirty work". Instead when he does fight it usually starts with a cheap shot or someone comes to his rescue and stop the fight in progress, typically when 8 is getting mashed. It's one thing to be a superstar and get glorified on your performance if it contributes to the team (i.e. Toews, Crosby, Zetterberg, Thornton, McKinnon, Benn, McDavid) but when your play is so selfish it's takes to the end of your career follow by countless trades for "support" to finally get the Lords Cup, you're no better than if you had just simply bought then damn thing to begin with. 

 

P3P is right why #8 is not in the same as Tom Wilson when it come to media scrutiny. Tom Wilson and Ovi have the same track record with dirty plays, hurting their teams with terrible cheap shot penalties and all the fines that follow suite but is never seen as a villain. The difference, 8 is a fan favorite, and a superstar. So anytime he is attacked, the fans are right there at his beck and call defending his honor. This has only multiplied with the Cup win in 2018. The asterisk there though is they were taken to 5 games by an expansion team! Ok, Ok I see you Caps fans out there like but we had  T. J. Oshie, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Braden Holtby in net. But that's who had to win the Cup a team against another who had never played to together before, let alone multiply 7 game series.  I hear you crybabies, I really do, but what I don't hear is the 'clink' clink' of multiple championship rings on my hand when waving goodbye to any reasoning you Caps fans may have when it comes to Ovechkin being on the Mt. Rushmore of all time great hockey players.
