You have too many horses in this race!  Too many divided loyalties!  😂

We will see what happens when the weather turns on them.  Instead of being "Carnasty" today, it was "Carnicely".  Flags were practically limp and flat all day . . . hardly an ounce of wind coming in off the North Sea.

I'm liking Yuka, SYK and Georgia . . . Attaya could get hot too . . . with the exception of Georgia, she is probably the best links player of the group that I have listed.

Time and weather will tell all.  But its been good viewing thus far.

At some point, one by one will fall... so gotta have quite a few, i suspect one falls every round or two 😂

Was on course for the afternoon session -

Obvious statement - these players are sooooo accurate.

Comments from a few Carnoustie regulars was that the scoring should have been lower - despite the drizzle in the morning it was very calm. It was there for the taking this afternoon even though it was a bit cooler. A few tees had been moved up as well.

Other obvious statement - play is sooooo slow. Think a few groups got kicked on by the rules officials and it sped up but then it slowed badly - 5 and half hours at least.
Some players were discussing the slow pace of play and why there us just no need. Saw numerous examples of players waiting till their turn before even discussing the shot in detail with their caddie.

The slow play just drives me nuts. Saw a few examples last week at the Scottish Open. Player is on the green watching her playing partner putt, and then her caddie and her start discussing the putt. Ridiculous.

Lol. Seven hours of coverage is a lot of golf. 'Just finished catching up. First, I'm really disappointed in Mother Nature. The course played about as easy as one could imagine. I hope the wind picks up over the next few days. Also, why are they shortening holes on the first day! Drives me nuts. The morning wave did have to deal with the colder temperatures, which probably explains the better scores out of the latter groups.

Nelly is just firing on all cylinders right now. Her putter finally found its groove, and with her excellent ballstriking its just a walk in the park. We'll see if she can keep in up when the winds pick up.

Surprised, but not surprised to see Sei Young at the top. She had a 4th a few years ago, but otherwise hasn't really contended at the WBO. With calm conditions she could get aggressive.

Really surprised to see Andrea near the top. She had a good 2020, but this year has been a bust.

Always like seeing an amateur in contention. Not sure if she's hang in there, but it was a quality round by Louise.

Yeah, Georgia knows how to play the links.

Like Sei Young, Lexi appears to have taken advantage of the calm conditions with her length.

Yuka looking solid. I'm thinking we might have another first time major winner, but Yuka (along with Nelly) could give us a two time major winner.

Plenty of solid play down to even par. Lydia once again came out of the gate flat. I don't think she's too far back, but if conditions stay calm she'll have her work cut out for her.

Rough day for So Yeon, Danielle, A Lim, Charlie, and Amy O. Going to be tough to make the cut.

I'll say it again, I love links golf. Fairway bunkers are actual hazards, and not just an inconvenience. The fescue looks a little too wispy. Saw too many easy shots out of the stuff. Too late to do anything about it at this point though.

Don't worry the forecast is for more wind each day; it was so good to not play golf in a 20mph wind today like tis been the last 3 weeks.

looking like 12 - 15 - 16 mph winds the next three days.

Scottish sand is very different to USA sand; a lot lighter and I have been finding that weird the last three weeks. I have played backwards two times this week already out of fairway bunkers; so good to have them as actual hazards to avoid!

Scotland had a very wet May, very dry June and then a mixed July; the trend in links rough is to use a machine that cuts the shorter thicker grass to a certain level but leave the wispy stuff; its a very good idea, there is still plenty thick stuff wider!

Next up will be "Here's Nelly Korda with her sister and former player Jessica on the bag."

I can honestly see this happening if Jessica's game takes a plunge and Nelly's stays amongst the the best. Give or take 3 years from now.

I can honestly say that there’s no way Jessica ever carries Nelly’s golf bag.   Her extremely expensive designer purse, maybe, but golf bag, no way! 🤪

I wonder if Brittany would be able to caddy, if she didn't have Brooke playing along with her?

As an ex Symetra tour pro....I'm sure if Brittany hustled...she'd be able to secure a LPGA bag.

BUT

Unless you snag a premier LPGA pro's bag...life as a LPGA loop for a journeywoman LPGA pro's bag is a really poor lifestyle...kinda like living in poverty.

contrary to some opinions if you look at NK scorecard today she could have gone way low or way high

Three Eagles - Four Birdies- Three bogeys- I double bogey

Jessica was also very erratic

SEVEN birdies- but five bogeys- and a double bogey

Not sure what scorecard your looking at but LPGA.com has Nelly for 8 birdies and 3 bogeys.

Jessica had 3 birdies, 1 eagle, 4 bogeys and 1 double bogey

Lexi with a local looper on the bag too. Seems she has been swapping caddies like putters.

“I think we've kind of separated ways for now,” Thompson said Thursday.

Hello McFly.

You've either fired him or you didn't.

If Lexi does well this week and likes the guy she might offer him a F/T gig.

Lexi's prior loop was Kevin McAlpine, a good golfer who is from Scotland...he's now on Martin Laird's bag...I think he might now be married to Anna N.

I have difficulty understanding the announcers and their slang. When a leader drops several strokes, it needs to be explained if it’s not on video. Large scoring shifts occurred with no explanation. It’s normal to not see follow up shots from nasty lies. It makes me appreciate US coverage, which is more thorough.

I guess a lot of the tee time committees like to bully Lexi.

A more appropriate player than Brooke...unless Brooke is there to SLOW PLAY Lexi....would be to pair Lexi with Saso and So Yeon Ryu....you know...the gal who STOLE the ANA trophy from Lexi in 2017.

I was thinking the same thing. Putting Lexi with Saso is brutal. I was so bummed out for a couple days after she let the U.S. Open slip through her hands. Does anyone know how Lexi is viewed by fellow golfers on tour?

On a side note, I always like watching Shibuno play. I’m mesmerized watching her swing because of her double jointed elbows.

I'm kinda thinking Lexi is viewed as neutral by her colleagues .

I don't think Lexi has many close friends on tour...maybe Jaye Marie?

I think Lexi is all business and knows her real earning power is outside the ropes.

While on tour...she likely does her work at the course...then spends quite a bit of time with her agent working on extra curricular activities ala the Gulbis model.

Many like to watch The Smiling Cinderella because of her smile and attitude while playing golf.

Has anyone here actually seen Shibuno play?

If indeed she has registered for Q Series and if she makes it....I'm kinda thinking she'll only be a middle of the pack player....I hope she proves me wrong....I'm a Shibuno fanboy.

In the last tournament the commentators made mention of Charley's planned shopping and spa trip with her buddy Georgia.

Funnily enough I was picturing Charley and Georgia enjoying their spa treatments and a certain type of Barry White style music starts playing in my head.

Go figure, huh?

Trying to figure out what you meant by the Barry White music....

...possibly "Two girls and one Rapidcat👩‍❤️‍👩🐯👩‍❤️‍👩?"
(i hear Marvin Gaye's "Let Get it on" myself!)

If you're referring to the SkySports commentary team...
then it'll be either Richard Kaufman (or Jamie Spence) cooped up in a small commentary box with Iona Stephen, Alison Whitaker, Sophie Walker and Inci Mehmet (hence the naughty banter)!

I'm watching in Oz on Fox Sports and have noticed from comments on here that maybe sometimes for some events a different commentary team is used from what you get in North America? Not sure though.

Scoring looks a little higher this morning. There are a few players at -4 and -5 for the day, but the majority appear to be hovering at -2 to even.

So far, I'm slightly confused on the scoring. It's like the course is tough enough to keep 62's or 63's off the card, but not so tough that people are shooting 80.

Comparing this to the US Open scoring wise, this place is a walk in the park SO FAR.

Crying out for more usual windy links conditions, that'll resume normal service.

One commentator said the wind is forecast to get up on the weekend.

That's because the wind strength has been consistent at around 10 mph over the first two rounds & is enough to stop any super low scores if you've ever had a chance to play the course.
