Nice to see Laura Davies making the cut. 

With all the players so bunched, it should be a good weekend. Pity Erika Hara missed the cut. Two double bogeys to finish with on 17 and 18 did her in. In the press conference, it looked like she was holding back some tears.

To briefly summarise the rest if it, she says it was easier to calculate how far the ball would go because there was no wind, even though the fairways and greens were running. She talks about last year, how she is still annoyed with herself at crashing out, but would like to think she's grown as a player now (this mostly in regard to handling windy conditions).

 

Also, she said it's easier not being the defending champion, and she's now back to being a "normal" player.

 

When asked about her strategy for the weekend, she said she needs to give herself better chances to attack the green, something she didn't do on Friday, and also not miss putts of the distance she did on the last hole. She seemed to say that she was going to work on her putting after the press conference was over.

 

The final question was about the Olympics, and she congratulated Inami Mone on her medal (silver), and also said she was really happy to see Japan get gold in the softball, and she hopes softball makes a return to the Olympics after Paris in 2024 (she played softball as a child. IIRC, she played at quite a high level).

Other than some different phrasing there is no difference. Tennis also uses retired in place of withdrawn. Same as soccer using nil for zero. Big world with many phrasings meaning the exact same thing across similar languages. To wit car park = parking lot. Going on holiday = vacation.  Radio presenter = DJ. Lorry = truck. And so on and so on.

I was a big fan of Jessica Korda in 2010; as expected I was disappointed when she lost to Danielle Kang at the final of 2010 US Women's Amateur.

 

She's a sight to behold when she plays her best; great ball striking and even better putting.  But, she rarely does that.  It's almost as if she subconsciously doesn't want to achieve that much.

 

I'll never have my questions answered; so will settle and accept what it has been and what it is.

I'm surprised that so many shots are coming up short. Shouldn't take but one or two holes to realize that the greens are playing soft, and that pins can be attacked.

@golfortennis Have you tried the Sky Sports UK 'Live' stream on youtube, for fewer commercials/ adverts? (just need to set VPN to UK)

Great venue, fascinating to watch the golf but apparently because it's a women's major some are obsessed with commenting on superficial things like personal appearance and fashion?
