Well I came with Xander a bit to soon. 1 week to be exact.
Luckily, I have been a little more restrained this week in that department, while abroad in other crucial areas. Let’s just say the stats geeks have been very active in logging the total bases per at bat stat.
My long game has been on fire while my short game is only needed when I am ready to wrap things up.

Getting ready to take a day trip to UBud see the hills and green of Bali. Rice fields and Monkey Forest.
You have to protect your valuables. Those monkeys will snatch your phone.

Thanks Touch for your timely stats posting that stellar +1 for my crap long shot picking but at least they made the cut.

You could say Spieth peaked a little early this year.
Cheers from the Island of Bali

Now I sound like those horny Aussies that are everywhere.

The golf Gods provided me with a second week of decent play.

Always on Mondays when Stan and I pull into Cleghorn in Rutherfordton, NC to meet Mike and whom ever he is bringing from up from Lindsayland we find fewer than a dozen cars out front. This past Monday when we pulled into the parking lot at 10:15 AM it was full. We arrived as is the norm one hour prior to our tee time. I see the driving range is at max occupancy. Stan looks at me and asks are you sure you made a tee time for us? I say chill brother this is the mighty Cleghorn and we are preferred regulars here my man, yes I made a time 11:30. We check in and see that there was a tourney/outing just starting out. About 45 golfing folks from Charlotte had driven the hour and few minutes west to golf and celebrate the holiday that was last Monday at the fabulous golf course by the internationally known Tyron Equestrian Center. The nice young college aged guy behind the desk tells us they that they currently are out of carts and range balls and he would have both for us in 20-30 minutes. No biggie as Stan and I went to the practice green to roll some. Our golf cart is eventually brought to us but he tells me the range dude is still picking. Mike arrives and says he is solo. Stan and I drive to the range (it is huge) and each grab an empty bucket and comb the hills and hand pick two dozen range rocks apiece. We do get a warm up in after all. We then went to the pitching practice area chipped some.

The weather was real warm but thankfully there was low humidity (38%) .  At 11:30 under sunny skies without wind and a temperature of 86* we headed up the hill for the 150 yard cart ride to the first tee. Skreeeech !  Oh my there were two groups ahead of us. One hitting and one waiting to tee off next.  When we got out on the course it was obvious to the three of us that this outing was allowed to play a few fivesomes. This was going to be a hell of a long round. We eventually teed off and then waited over every shot for the rest of the day. I began the round playing very steady considering the start and then stop pace. I made par on the first four holes. I then went bogey, par, bogey, bogey, par. I made the turn with a 3 over 38.

Cleghorn is par 71  35 F 36 B

I grabbed a sandwich and some gatorade and we had a rather lengthy lunch break at the turn. We were going nowhere soon.

#10 featured my shot of the day. It's one of the toughest holes on the back 9. A downhill tee shot par 4 with a creek crossing the landing area at 225 yards. Then an uphill approach shot is called for to a skinny green front to back that is surrounded by very deep bunkers. I feathered a 5 wood to just short of the creek crossing. I had 159 left. Pulled 5 hybrid and stuffed it right tight. As we drove up the hill it got better looking. I was to make an 18 inch uphill putt for my first birdie. It was inside left edge. I made a confident stroke and it dropped for a 3 and that reduced my score for the day to 2 over. That was my first birdie ever on difficult hole #10 at Cleghorn and it was mighty sweet. I got a jolt of confidence from it and it made me realize that I was indeed playing real good golf for the fourth consecutive round.  I continued with more smooth play all afternoon. I made par's on the remaining 8 holes on the back. Missed 4 greens and saved them all.

My tasty numbers for the round.

14 fairways

11 greens

30 putts - one 3 jack

one birdie

zero penalty strokes

3 over front    1 under back          73

I shot my career best Monday down at Cleghorn and somehow I did it during a round that took 5 hours and 5 minutes!!  The fact that I shot such a number waiting around all day is pretty incredible. How did I pull it off ?

That is a golf course I just love and have played it enough now to know all the lines.

I have of late been playing real well for consecutive rounds.

I was with my absolute favorite two golf buddies battling under the warm sunshine.

I wasn't at work.  😀

We all sat on the patio that overlooks the 18th green post round and had a few glasses of suds and some grub.

I won't ever forget that round at Cleghorn last Monday.

What a rush.  🏌️‍♂️

That's because the Scottish Open is a huge event now.  Players are electing to get over across the pond early to get acclimated and play the event.  The JP is loaded too.

I very much am liking the new TMC  column Mr. Q.

Always timely, forever on top of it, and often making beneficial tweaks to the finished product. Gents we are mighty fortunate to have Q in charge of the stats.

Thank you my long time online friend for your continued fine work. The commish is way grateful to have a coworker like you assisting me at the controls. 👊

This is a week off for the Chef, but he is traveling across the Atlantic today. He will be visiting his parents in England for a week and then it is on to the Scottish Open and then St. Andrews to cook for the boys.

He has relayed his picks to me for the John Deere.

You are on point P48, good call.

About 5 or more years ago the boys asked Chef to add the Scottish Open to the list of tournaments he is needed for in the summertime.

It was Rickie's idea. Getting acclimated a week and few days early to the time change and different weather, as well as adjusting to links golf and that style of play he felt was the best way to be prepared for the upcoming Open Championship.
