How far away before hotel

How far do you travel before you get a hotel for a tournament?   For me my max is usually 2 hours. Anything longer then that is way to long your talking about 4 hours in the car per day. Also if I have to deal with traffic and early tee times a hotel close by is a must.  I also try and find a hotel as close to the course as possible.

1:30 hours is the rule. We will commute 90 minutes each way, not longer.

Not just for golf but any sport, it is about food/rest/energy etc. 2 hours travel is the max.

 

My older daughters play(ed) club volleyball and that means we are often up at 4 am driving 2 hours and playing all day long. We found if we started preparing 2 days prior, i.e. specific bedtime, wake ups, dinner and breakfast times Thurs and Fri, we could get them through the tournament day. 

 

Problem is teenagers don't like any of that, so sometimes we lost the battle, and they absolutely crash mid way through the Saturday tournament.

 

Apply some of the same stuff with golf. Trying to squeeze in a practice round on a Friday, stay over and play Saturday worked worse than just relaxing, getting good sleep Thurs/Fri and then travelling.

We are 2 hours. But we also consider the direction. I'd that 2 hours takes us trough Atlanta then we may get a room. Also do a rewards card be its Wyndham are Hilton. Every little bit helps. I did a Wyndham rewards and get at least 2 free nights a season. May not sound like alot but definitely adds up

I think its an hour I'm staying in a hotel. 30 mins no. 45 maybe. Hour yeah. Its wasted sleep and rest the kids need to perform at the level they can. If you are spending money might as well spend more and stay close to make it easier.

1.5 hours one way. With occasional weekend traffic here and there, it's usually a little over 1.5 hours.

I'm going 143 miles each way for a one day event tomorrow morning and then driving back after.  Tee time is 9 AM.

The way we drive in Florida, that is less than 2 hours.
