Hes a solid player seen him on the telecast.  Very solid bag when you see Titleist woods and Mizzy irons.  I played that combo for many years.

Solid guy who I understand is a top shelf amateur player. My BB story is from the mid-90s when I worked in nonprofit and Baier was a local news reporter. Had a black tie event where another reporter (anchor) was to be emcee. Thirty minutes before the event, our emcee has yet to arrive and for a then early 20s fairly new professional, that's panic time.😨 This was before cell phones and such, so I didn't know what was going on or how to fix it lol. 

 

Maybe 20 minutes before the event kicked off, someone directs Bret to me. Black turtleneck and sports coat, nice slacks, not sure I knew who he was. Dude explained the anchor was under the weather, he was sent to emcee. You'd never have known he was the last minute replacement. Greatly admired him ever since, and respect him as a fair and objective media personality now. Seems no different than that spring night in 1990 something. 

 

Years later the chatter in the NC Triangle was that Bret was sought as a Pro-Am participant for a local Champions Tour event not as much for his ties to the area, "celebrity" status and genuine golf chops, as for the title sponsor's CEO being fond of his wife. 🙄
