🙏🇹🇭 Thai = a very nice language to listen to (to my ears)... i.e. very melodious /rhythmic

(i think it shares some vocabulary with the Teochew chinese dialect , i.e. counting numbers "1 to 10"?)

Is anyone here familiar with "Royal Gems" golf course near Bangkok?

i.e.with a replica layout similar to Augusta back9?

Can we refer to Stephanie Kyriacou as SKY. Easier to spell 😂

Yes please.

Not as easy as No, though.

Our Jan 2002 Bangkok & Hua Hin golf vacation was OUTSTANDING and the best and most fun I've had on any of our golf vacations.

I will admit....our female loops on our Hua Hin golf rota were not in uniform and not as sassy like the ones in the 2nd and 3rd videos.

They didn't do much except push the cart...they didn't even speak English.

The woman golfer (IMO ....not very bright) in my group asked me why I was not using my loop to club me or read the greens.

I replied.....the loop has no clue how far I hit each club....she also has never played golf...and as a 6 cap ...I could read my own greens.

We were asked to tip the loops 200 Baht.

Most of the courses had a concessions every 3 or 4 holes.

Singha, bottled water and a Coke were $1.25 Cdn each....we'd just point and have the loops get whatever beverage they wanted at each concession.

On the back 9...they'd sell these $1.25 BBQ chicken thighs...so the loops would chose the thighs and then put them in a plastic bag and tie them to the push carts....they would bring the 2 thighs home to feed the family.

After the rd we'd be having some beers/drinks on the patio waiting for the vans to drive us back to the hotel.

They were some old Albertans....we would be chatting with them.

When I mentioned that at each concession that we'd all buy our loops drinks and/or chicken....they asked us if we would stop doing this as they never bought their caddies anything and it would make them look bad as the caddies would likely chat among themselves.

I told them don't tell me how to spend my money and that they were spending $1000's on this golf trip and that they should be ashamed of themselves that they couldn't afford to spend $1.25 to $6.00 to buy their caddies something to eat or drink in 42*C heat.

Oh and yes....there were other Albertans who were just FANTASTIC to hang out with, play golf and go out to dinner.

I could see retiring in the Hua Hin area.

LPGA TOUR CELEBRATES 15TH PLAYING OF THE HONDA LPGA THAILAND
For the 15th time, the LPGA Tour heads to Thailand for the Honda LPGA Thailand, held this week at Siam Country Club’s Pattaya Old Course. This is the 10th time the event will take place on the Pattaya Old Course at Siam Country Club since 2007; it was played on the Plantation Course in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014, while the inaugural edition in 2008 was held at Amata Spring Country Club.

The field includes national hero and defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn, who shot a final-round 63 in 2021 to become the first Thai player to win in her home country on the LPGA Tour. She earned a one-stroke win over rising Thai sensation Atthaya Thitikul, who returns to Siam C.C. to compete for the first time as an LPGA Tour Member.

Fifteen major champions are in this week’s field, including Jutanugarn and fellow Thai native Patty Tavatanakit. Three-time Honda LPGA Thailand champion Amy Yang is aiming for her fourth tournament title, while Danielle Kang and Leona Maguire look to become the first multiple winners of the 2022 LPGA Tour season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE HONDA LPGA THAILAND

  • This is the 15th edition of the Honda LPGA Thailand; the event, which debuted in 2006, was not played in 2008 due to scheduling changes or in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • In 2006, the tournament was contested at Amata Spring Country Club, and has been played at Siam Country Club since 2007
  • This is the 10th time the event will take place on the Pattaya Old course at Siam Country Club since 2007; it was played on the Plantation Course in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014
  • Ten players from Thailand are in the field this week: Jaravee Boonchant (Bangkok), Ariya Jutanugarn (Bangkok), Moriya Jutanugarn (Bangkok), Wichanee Meechai (Bangkok), Jasmine Suwannapura (Bangkok), Rina Tatematsu (Bangkok), Patty Tavatanakit (Bangkok), Prima Thammaraks (Bangkok), Atthaya Thitikul (Ratchaburi) and Chanettee Wannasaen (Chiang Mai)
  • Jessica Korda set every tournament scoring record at the Honda LPGA Thailand when she won in 2018, including the 72-hole record (-25, 263); Patty Tavatanakit tied Korda’s 36-hole score in 2021
  • Jaravee Boonchant, Lucy Li, Kaitlyn Papp, Emily Kristine Pedersen, Hinako Shibuno, Rina Takematsu, Prima Thammaraks, Atthaya Thitikul and Chanettee Wannasaen are this week’s sponsor invites

JUTANUGARN SISTERS LEADING THE CHARGE FOR THAI GOLF

Few players are as closely aligned with the development of golf in their home countries as Ariya Jutanugarn and Moriya Jutanugarn. The sisters are as synonymous with golf in Thailand as Lorena Ochoa is in Mexico or Se Ri Pak in South Korea. Their faces pop up on billboards and in TV advertisements. There’s even a Netflix movie about Ariya’s development into the first Thai golfer, male or female, to win a major championship and reach No. 1 in the World Rankings.

And when Ariya won the 2022 Honda LPGA Thailand to become the first Thai player to win her home country’s championship, she felt she had truly accomplished her ultimate goal.

“Before I won this tournament last year, I'm always like told myself like the only tournament I really want to win and I haven't win yet is LPGA in Thailand,” said Ariya ahead of the 2022 tournament. “You know, didn't want to say this to other people, but one of my biggest dreams was to win in my home country, and I done it last year and it just feels great.”

Certainly, there were female Thai players before the Jutanugarns. Virada Nirapathpongporn won the 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur and captured two Epson Tour victories in 2003. In 2004, Russy Gulyanamitta became the first player from Thailand to earn LPGA Tour Membership.

But Ariya and Moriya? They have led the recent surge of excellent players from the Land of Smile. In 2007, the year Ariya qualified for the Honda LPGA Thailand at age 11, Nirapathpongporn was the only LPGA Tour Member from Thailand. Fast forward to 2022 and the Tour boasts 12 Thai players, including 2021 Chevron Championship winner Patty Tavatanakit and much-heralded 2022 rookie Atthaya Thitikul, a 19-year-old who already has four LET wins to her name.

For the sisters, who came to the United States as teenaged amateurs who didn’t know a soul on the junior circuit and struggled to communicate in English, seeing their sisterhood swell on the LPGA Tour makes them feel all the prouder to represent their country.

“I'm very happy that I can see all the new generation, a lot of Thai girls on Tour right now, and make, you know, like make this Tour more stronger and stronger,” said Moriya. “I feel like we are going up, and like even my time like my first year on Tour is only like maybe a few of us on Tour, and like now it feels like everywhere you walk, you know, like on the golf course you probably with speak Thai with someone, which is such a good feeling.”

“I feel like they inspire me in so many ways, the way they work so hard, determination, and really in contention,” Ariya added. “I feel like they going to inspire lots of young kids in Thailand, so that's a good thing.”

ARIYA JUTANGUARN READY TO DEFEND TITLE IN FRONT OF THAI FANS

With the last group in the middle of the 18th fairway on Sunday at the 2021 Honda LPGA Thailand, Mother Nature reared her head at the most inopportune time. Ariya Jutanugarn sat in the clubhouse, thunderstorms swirling in the air, forced to wait more than an hour to see if her mark of -22 would stand for the tournament title. Only Atthaya Thitikul, her teenaged countrywoman playing in the final group, had a chance to take the title away from Jutanugarn.

“I don't know how it's going to be, so that moment, that feeling is kind of pretty awkward for me,” said Ariya of that wait. “Of course, I'm rooting for (Atthaya) and also want myself to win, so it's kind of like so many things happen.”

Big sister Moriya Jutanugarn hung close, even if she didn’t quite know what to do. “I don't think I'm very helping,” she said. “When you are rooting for someone really like support them and cheer for them, it's just like you always feel what they feel. Also, I feel nervous and exciting as well. I mean, it's such a good memory for us and for our family.”

In the end, Thitikul three-putted the final hole. Ariya watched from the putting green and dissolved into tears in the arms of her caddie Pete Godfrey, then the waiting embrace of her sister. The smile on her face as she hoisted the trophy was blinding. Now that smile beams from massive billboards along the highway spectators will take as they turn into Siam Country Club, finally able to support their favorite daughter after two years away from the course due to the pandemic.

“I'm more excited like what going to happen this week, not only for me, but for all the Thai players this week,” said Ariya. “Not really feel pressure because I know everybody just want to support me. I know how I'm doing right now. I just have to keep working on the same stuff and wish and hope it's going to get better like soon.”

They're actually starting the event in groups of 2 off the tee, I am a fan of this.  Limited field event allows this, I get it.  I like the groups of 2 so much, I want them to make the cutline at top 50 and ties, so I can get groups of 2 every weekend lol

Oops jumped the gun it was only the 1st two groups lol, still they should strive for groups of two, even if they have to cutdown fields 🙂

What do you think of this bet:

Brooke Henderson               -120

Minjee Lee                            -110

Minjee seems to be a no brainer in this bet.

I would take Minjee, especially coupled with her history here and Brooke's putting woes.   My gut tells me Patty T this week for the win but she's basically suffering the same plight as Brooke only from the opposite side of the spectrum.  Patty on and around the green numbers say she's primed for a win but getting the ball to the green seems to be her big problem right now, I think though this is a great event for Patty T to turn around her fortunes.

Also I assume this is a match-up bet, I wouldn't bet the farm on Minjee.  Brooke other than a suspect putter is really on her game through 4 events and she did out play Minjee through 3 rounds, only to be passed by Minjee light's out Sunday performance, so you can get caught in a bias of the last round.  That said I still go with Minjee as she plays great at this event.

On Live at the Players yesterday.

I was not aware of the extremes.

Rahm is right at or near the top in SG off the tee and into the green...but WOEFUL on the greens.

I had it in the background and wasn't listen....they also had some good discussion on a lot of topics, including sports betting.

I recorded it and will watch it sometime.

@18majors Tough to pick - not getting good odds on either TBH. I would probably lean Brooke but not confident either way!   What site is that ?

I'm still waiting fo Draftkings to correct their DFS contests from last week ! they ended the scoring after 1 day for a 4 day event. Got an email saying whoops sorry but if you already won you can keep your money BUT it's our bad but we will fix it within 48 hrs of the event! Still nothing ..

I'd like to think I finished well , since JYK had low ownership and I had the next 3 highest scorers of the week in Minjee, Lee6, and Jeeno! Yealim also had the low round of the day Thursday.

Based on the #'s it's a coin flip.

As a handicapper suggested....always best to bet on face to face match-up vs odds type betting.

Yes, ECP has been playing well so far this year.

But I'm waiting for the DRAMA when ECP SLAMS Mollie in 2 weeks.🤣

I see they are set up for the big 2 hour window of TV coverage the next 2 nights.

it seems like less coverage than last season so far.

Let’s make sure we get 489 hours of “Live from the Players” coverage though.

The final round has 3 hours of coverage. Oh joy.

There will be 5 hours of streaming coverage of the first three rounds, and 6 hours of coverage of the final round on the the NBC Sports and/or GC App. Doesn't do me a lot of good since it can't be recorded.
