Bettinardi Golf putters

Does anyone have experience with their putters? I wanted to see if my situation is 'normal' or the company is a bit shady. I purchased a queen b12 last February (almost $500) and already some of the paint is chipping off. I've always used the cover and have been really gentle with it. I previous used a Scotty Cameron for 8 yrs and never had any issues.

I emailed Bettinardi's customer service; they went through the whole authentication  process of when did I buy and when (receipt). After they saw everything was legit they said that the paint coming off is 'normal'. I think this is completely bogus and says a lot about this company. I regret not getting Ping or Scotty now.

Here's their response:

The silver you see on the putter is typical wear and tear that we see with use. The reason this happens is from going in and out of the head cover and the use of the putter. I can help you in getting that refinished with a different black finish that will eventually do the same thing over time.

We do charge for refinishes in situations like these because the black finish and the nickel plating are doing their job in helping prevent the putter from rusting. Refinishes cost $250 and take 12-14 weeks to be completed.

I have a 2018 bb1, first bettinardi I've owned that I bought new in Dec 2020 from a big box store.  The paint fill on sole is almost completely gone now.  Putter has been well cared for and the cover was on 100% of time when not in use.

But paint on the sole of putter will wear when in use. So there’s that.

I've had a newport and yes putter for a lot longer and sole paint is not worn on those.  The bb1 paint was flaking off...

Then may I suggest you follow a couple of the very well written threads on here about paint fill?  I agree then the paint could have lasted longer but it’s easier….more fun….and less expensive to give your putter a personal touch.

OP without pics we can help you, there are a lot of finishes out there that fade and wear over time as well, Bettinardi has a few that do wear.

As for calling them a shady company is also laughable.

They are shady in other ways but not quality wise.

Also if you are just going to them about OTR putters, you would probably be on the bottom of the list as they prioritize their personal buddies first, then Social members, custom putter customers (which can drag on for months), higher end Hive DASS putter customers, NFT holders (which has become kind of a silent joke), then maybe they will have time for OTR customers.

Paint coming off is not uncommon especially OTR. Frustrating I know. Just a random bad luck for your putter.

I do feel their workmanship is slipping along with their customer service. Bought a new BB8W from PGA SS. Standard sink fit grip was loose. Felt like the double sided tape pulled off the shaft. I reached out to them by phone for a new grip. They were not the least bit helpful. I followed up with 2 messages via their website and both went unanswered. I think going forward I will spend my dollars on a more responsive company.
