Taylormade is about exposure. You watch their channel and you can tell they are probably promoting everything from the clothes, shoes, drinks etc. Their channel is popular so kudos to Taylormade for making the right marketing move

I think it's cool that there's now a reasonable platform for people to fund their pro golf dreams.

 

In the past it seemed you had to have a backer or rich parents in order to stay on the grind for years trying to make it.

I am, because that's the message in your posts. I don't get why people watch this, but I understand why TM and Callaway support it. Yadda yadda.

In a nutshell the reality is this. Taylormade golf youtube channel puts out videos with McIlroy, Tiger, DJ, Morikawa etc. Total subscribers? 249k

Micah? 400k subscribers, Grant 325K. Good Good? 1.1 mill subscribers

They see the value of youtube and want their piece, smart business. 

Callaway is way in on this, signing just about everyone else in the YT space. 

Folks that dont get it, just dont get it. And then there are some that just dont want to.

I was never subscribed but they still pop up in my feed all the time but it seems to be rare for their videos to get to the same views as subscribers

I think there’s probably a giant difference between the contracts these guys get and what you imagine pro golfer contracts look like. 
 

I’d bet these influencer deals are similar to the endorsement deals that middling musicians get. The manufacturers take advantage of the fact that players really like gear. They offer them free or deeply discounted prices on equipment, along with free apparel.
 

I don’t imagine any mid-six figure check being written.
