I bet. How refreshing.  👍

How many vehicles does the band take? Is the black Chevy van the equipment hauler?

Yeah, just the one van. We've got a very Tetris-like system for loading the gear. Helps that the boys play miniature Quilter amps.

And the whole reason I got my new DW kit was to downsize so they'd fit. My beloved Ayottes I've had for 25 years wouldn't fit.

Which is fine anyway. Wouldn't want to take them on the road since they're literally irreplaceable. Custom built back in 98 by a company that doesn't exist anymore.

... I never pay much attention and go my own way. Sometime with the herd but more often not. My Jr year in high school I was not a member of the Rich Cool Kids club. I saw an article in Playboy feathering the Girls Of The Ivy League but what really caught my attention was the guys with the girls, were wearing brown and tan saddle oxfords and I thought they were just beyond cool. I found a pair, bought them and wore them to school and the Cool Kids had a fit. I brought the pages from Playboy with me but wasn't gonna waste then on these guys.

... And here is the kicker. At that time most of us wore sneakers and white athletic socks with jeans. Brands didn't matter. These rich cool kids wore frayed khaki's cut off about 12" above their shoes so you could see their shiny black socks in their black "Nettletions" a stiff dress shoe with a tassel. No other color pants, socks or shoes and they were only bought at an exclusive Mens Store. Seeing the brand label was essential. What a herd.

Where I went to school if you wore white socks on Thursday other kids called you gay. True story. 🤣

... LOL, what did you wear with your gym shoes? I don't think they even made colored athletic crew socks in the 60's, just those long colored socks for basketball.

I can tell you from experience it takes time. I had to literally rebuild my swing. I also had to change some equipment around. With all of that I had to totally revamp my approach as in how to play the course. My main hurdle was mental. I had to realize that I am lucky to be able to play and will never be the player I was pre accident. During all these changes I had neglected my short game some which used to be my strong point. I have also had to put behind me trying to get distance and take what I have and deal with it. One recent change I have had to deal with was dropping the 3 wood. No matter how I set one up I could not get any height. On my course that hurt on attempting to carry the swamps on 2 of our Par 5 holes. Over those hazards I would swing too fast and hard trying to get it airborne and would most cases top the ball. I built me a soft tipped little 5 wood. It carries fine but with grass now on our fairways it does not roll out but carries with no effort. Yeah with roll out it is 15 yards shorter than the 3 wood but I learned to deal with it. On those 2 holes alone that club has saved me 4 shots a round by carrying the swamp with no lost ball and penalty. Another change is putting. I have been streaky even before my accident and have tried different putters different putter grips and even my hands on the putter. I sat and thought about that and decided last week to go back to how I used to do things. Our greens have been crappy since spring and it adds to the frustration and gets into ones head. I went back to an old Ironmaster with a standard size real wrapped Neuman leather grip. I went back to my old style of instinct putting. I putted good in the Shootout last Saturday and in the league Tuesday. Like I told one of the guys I may not putt better with it but I was darn sure enjoying looking down at it and the feel.

Pre accident I was a 5 handicap from out mid tees and even at age 62. After the accident when I started playing the league in April I was a 18 from the forward senior tees. It just dropped as of Tuesday to 14. My goal is single digit around 8 or 9 by fall. My body will not let me practice as much as I used to so I play as much as it will let me. But keep plugging and like I said it takes time

... I thought the 116* and 118* for the weekend here was bad but 121* and 120* is just insane. The temps just seem to get exponentially hotter with every additional degree above 115* and 118* is the hottest I have experienced. I went to a Home Depot because I wanted to experience that kind of heat and just walking from the car to the store was crazy intense. I feel absolutely no need to experience 121* 🥵😳

Yep I saw the oppressive heat for you guys on the weather channel last night. I thought I hope my bud Chisag does not burn up

That is interesting. It may be the one course on Earth where my PIA golf ball hawking friends wouldn't stray from the fairway to try and find a twenty year old Top Flite.

What is really funny is some of the old farts in my league would not only find that Top Flite but play it as well. One of the guys the other day hit a ball to the right so I helped search. I saw this old yellowed Top Flite II which they have not made in 20 years. Yes it was his ball. He is one of the ball hawkers will play anything he finds regardless of brand or age. Later on during the round we had a search for another players ball. I found like 3 more balls which I would have thrown in the shag bag. He asked what I was going to do with them? I told him if he wanted them he could have them. One of the other guys laughed and said he has like 4 or 5 big 5 gallon buckets full in his garage. That guy is one of those with the big cart bags pockets stuffed full of balls that gives the bag drop guys hernias

I'm guilty Ti . I will never get used to seeing fancy sweatpants on the course or anywhere else. But, they aren't any worse than the bell bottoms I wore in High School.:classic_biggrin:

We used to make our own bell bottoms. Split the legs and sew Rebel flag bandanas in them. Hey it was the South and in those days no one said anything. Budweiser had some kind of promotion going on and I got some from our Bud salesman and again no one said anything. The coolest ones though was this one kid his Dad was a liquor salesman and he had Jack Daniels and Jim Beam. I also had 2 pairs of the cotton Coca Cola pants with the Coke logo all over them like Bobby Allison's Pit crew members wore in the NASCAR races. We wore all kinds of T shirts from Budweiser to Black Sabbath and no one said zilch. In fact in those days even back to Jr high we had smoking areas where one could smoke cigarettes. Man those were the days

He could be the twin of one of the guys I refer to. Wouldn't matter if the woods were infested with Mamba and King Cobra. He'd still be in thick underbrush where you can't see past your thighs to look for balls. He too has thousands of them in his garage, and plays "the good ones".

Wearing socks other than white with ones's white tennis shoes (didn't call them gym shoes) was a faux pas.  The anser to length......shorties.  All-Stars, Jack Purcells, Red Ball Jets as a youngster.  Always white.  The droopier the better.  Summer, no socks.  With frayed cut-offs.

I was just starting to play again at the 8 month mark. I had already gone to graphite shafts before surgery, but after the injury.

It has definitely been a slower process than I expected. I just didn’t realize how much the shoulder is used in the golf swing.

Good luck with your recovery!

I have been thinking about graphite shafts in my irons.  From competitive skiing to baseball through college, I had partially torn rotator cuffs, which have healed over time, but created arthritic shoulders, never mind my back issues.  I just not sure what weight graphite I should think about trying.  Currently I’m playing Modus 105 regular.

... I have played quite a few graphite iron shafts ranging in weight from 110-85gms and I think if you like the Modus 105's then Steelfiber 95's would be a good choice. Recoils are more dampened and if you enjoy that feel Recoil 95's wouldn't be a bad choice either. Recoil 95 Prototypes are a little crisper and tighter but silly expensive and hard to find. My personal favorites are the Steelfibers.

I went through a whole graphite irons shaft exploration last year - mainly flavors of MMTs and Steelfibers - and while the performance was there, I never quite got used to the feel. Of course, my irons play was all sorts of crappy so that may very well have contributed.
