Bummed JT couldn't get it done. Gutsy play. As far as RC goes ... seems his past performance should be a determining factor. Kinda the whole point of captain's picks, right?

Yeah! Dawg's been consistent this year. Hasn't won in a minute - think the last was the Farmer's at Torrey? - but pretty dang solid season. 

 

Missing the cut at the US Open was prolly the only real bummer over the season.

I would say it would be a big injustice if he was NOT picked for the RC team for the exact reasons you stated. But then again the captains picks are sorta joke anyhow. It can be politically motivated or a popularity contest. I can remember the year that Tom Watson did not pick Billy Ho who was sorta a hot commodity at the time. I forgot who he picked over Billy Ho but they never scored a point and of course we lost. Billy Ho went on to win the Fed Ex Cup that year and rightfully talked crap. All of that led to Captain's picks being made after the Fed Ex cup. IMHO JT should be a shoe in because after all he is popular and he and Jordan are a great team.

I ended up going to bed after the LIV event---- I wanted to watch The Wyndam because I was pulling for our Carolina Boy Lucas and Billy Ho too. Direct TV is in some kind of feud with CBS so we can not get CBS. After 25 years I am thinking seriously about telling Direct TV to take a hike and shove it. Since AT&T bought them they suck anyhow. I did go over to the CW and got into watching Bryson shoot a 58. My wife did get out our emergency TV with the Analog antenna and time she got it going the Wyndam was in rain delay. I was tired from the fiasco of the 9& Dine Saturday afternoon plus a double shift at Church so I went to bed. I did get up about Midnight and checked on the computer and saw Lucas had won and JT did not make the playoffs. I went back to bed and just now got up

"Enter Sandman " was closer, it was fantastic. My daughter bought me GA floor for recent Bday, , we were maybe 30 feet from a stage (next to mosh pit too) one that indexes so you get to have someone right there almost always. They put on a really good show.

You might go to Dallas Arena or Allegiant Field or Oakland Coliseum to see these guys.  When you're in MT you go to a rodeo pen in a town of 3141.

 

Breeders got stopped by lightning mid song.

 

We watched the storm and lightning roll in.  It was a rain or shine event and at 9:50 the headliners appeared and 7000 of us in the mud were giddy.  We were probably 75-100’ back out of the fray, but what a show.  Also, I am with Chisag, so the videos are super short and not a lot of photos, but they were really, really fun.

Excepting the McLaren we have had a similar run of golf.  My wife and I went to Ireland in 2021, about 3 weeks after they opened up and it was fantastic, and then 3.5 months later Pebble was on the docket, also delayed by Covid.  So we had 2 years of trips in a pretty short time.

 

Both were fantastic, and I hope you have the same feelings afterward.

That's very similar to my story.  We had it all booked to play Pebble to celebrate multiple 50th birthdays in early 2020 and then it all got cancelled by COVID.  Then, we got on the waiting list for a 2022 Scotland trip and so many people dropped out, we booked it and made the trip.  The centerpiece of the 6 courses was the Old Course and we were in the Rusacks with a room directly overlooking the 18th fairway - absolutely glorious.  We played it 4 days before they closed it to complete prep for the Open Championship. 

 

Our associate club has a Pebble weekend just about every year, so we jumped on that while also booking the Ireland trip.  Both the Scotland and Ireland tips are through our local golf association.  Scotland was done through The Experience St. Andrews.  The Ireland trip is through Sullivan Travel.

Plus, as mentioned above, Scotland last year.  I should point out that the Scotland trip was also my first-ever international travel so, yes, this will then be my first trip to Ireland.   Many of my friends were shocked that I was going to travel internationally.  Most did not know that I even had a passport which I got 6 years ago mostly as a joke since I didn't think I'd ever use it.

 

We're scheduled to play Enniscrone, Carne, Sligo (Rosses Point), Portstewart, Royal County Down, and Royal Portrush.  I've heard basically nothing but good things about all of them.

Have a great time.  We didn't play any of those in Ireland.  And isn't Scotland something?  Loved it.

 

We played Old Head and Waterville, and I played Lahinch and Ballybunion.  We drove around a lot too.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful country is what it is. 

 

I've got a moderately respectable travel resume and pretty much every trip I've ever been on ... by the end, I was really ready to come home.

 

Scotland though? If my pups weren't back home, I'd have been doing everything possible to have just stayed 😂

Admittedly, the first thing that caught my attention was the lack of litter.  All by itself, that was so refreshing.  Our first lodging as at the Grassmarket in Edinburgh and I could've walked around the city and castle for days.  We played North Berwick and Gullane #1 and on the "rest" day, we opted for the castle tour and then we transferred to Rusacks.  Our guide pointed out landmarks during the bus ride and, for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the farmer's market at which we stopped, but the food and live music were FABULOUS!  That's also where I learned that water closet is what they call a bathroom.  LOL.

 

With St Andrews as a base, we played the Castle Course, Carnoustie, Old Course, and Crail Balcomie.  We thought about trying to recreate the opening scene of Chariots of Fire on the West Sands Beach, but none of us are runners.  That would've ended badly.

 

Edit to add - Bowhouse - that's the name of the farmers market.  The guide made a point of asking if it was okay to stop there and we were so glad we did.  Driving along the coast in that area was amazing.  I'm glad I was on the right side of the bus.  Haha.
