Yuka looks to be back, she played well in the tournament of champions also.  Well, she stubbed her toe and then would go on a run, but she seems to be scoring very well again.

I didn't know that Saki Baba was in the field until I looked a the online leaderboard just now.  That also made my realize that I didn't set the DVR before I left for work this afternoon.  Oops.  Now, let's see if I remember to record the rebroadcast in the morning.

My prediction: no-one worse than -4 at R1 end can win, too many fine players in front of them to get in front of everyone of them.

Re Blade 4-irons ... Charley Hull comes to mind ... although i'm sure there might be other LPGA pros using blade irons, i think majority of these LPGA pros put function/forgiveness, over form

... and hence why i find LPGA WITB's more interesting/relevant for my game.

It’s sad to patty T looking miserable out there. It’s very hard I know but you can only play worse when you are miserable. Somehow learn to be happy/upbeat when you’re playing like crap. It’s very very hard but it works. You’ll play like crap less when you learn to somehow be positive during the hard stretches. It’s a downward spiral with a bad attitude. Look at Lydia, she was always positive when struggling with her game 

 

obviously not on their level but I used to get so upset when I played like crap when I’d get home my wife could tell in 5 seconds if I played well or not and that’s after driving at least an hour home haha. I told her I don’t have fun if I play like crap. my wife was like, “I bet if you learned how to have fun when you play like crap, you’ll play like crap less.”  She was 100% right (as usual)

My takeaway from rd 1 is everyone is a little rusty to some degree and also pretty sloppy lol. Lots of short, missed putts by everyone.  Maja at -7 after 11 holes really let one get away, she had a shot at a 62 and would have been a nice lead.

Watched an hour to two of the coverage. Felt too much like Nasa cam.  Jeeno was mashing her new Paradym, she could have easily shot 64!

Did you watch the TV coverage?  There seemed to be more commercials than golf shots and those repetitive replays really were totally unnecessary.

 

The coverage didn't do justice to the field it covered!  It felt like everything was done remotely and no reporters on the course.

I'm sure you're right about Hana Bank!  The best thing is it turns out to be a win-win scenario because Yealimi now plays Malbon Golf's only fiddle and both Malbon and she seem to thrive on it!

I feel for you all using the GC coverage. Ours was commercial free for 5 hours. I thought the coverage was mediocre though as there was none of JYK and a few others that are near the lead. They missed Lydia's 2nd birdie completely and she was in one of the feature groups. Nelly and Lydia grouped together today....hope we get to see some of them. I would be surprised if the leaderboard looks the same after today's round a lot of close misses from a lot of players and it usually levels out over rounds....it's possible more will drop today for them and not others.

That's why they play 4 rounds!  One can never count out Lydia!  Lydia trailed Patty Tavatanakit by 8 shots entering the final round at 2021 Chevron Championship and shot -10 to almost catch Patty.

 

Nelly isn't the same as Lydia, she checked out if she isn't in contention after two rounds.  As a result, Round 2 is foremost important to her.  The telltale sign for Nelly is always her par 5 scores, she eagles par 5's when she plays well and vise versa.

There were times the on screen leaderboard showed a players score for the hole as they showed them play their put and the commentator Trish Johnson kept calling their shots wrong...saying par or dropped when it wasn't so you may well be correct in thinking it was remote.

Yeah, usually expect some drop off with this coverage, for the Asian swing.  Usually it's just the camera guy/girl not being able to follow the ball in flight.  This seemed to lack a production direction, where I really noticed it was when the final groups were coming through 18, basically showed all players putting out and not how they got to the green, that bugged me lol

LPGA contracted out almost all overseas tournaments to WME-IMG and they haven't done a good job!  WME-IMG gives me an impression that they never care about the product, they do it for connections and other purposes.

 

LPGA is big enough now that they should evaluate the situation and do the right thing.

One thing about 18 and Pin placement yesterday, Brooke and Matilda had the exact same putt for Eagle, Matilda hit the putt rode a slope and hit off the green to make a nice bogey in the end.  Brooke used wedge on the green and made birdie.  Experience is a great thing, I doubt Matilda will ever putt from there again. lol
