The rough looks quite lush. Not crazy deep, but deep enough to take some spin off the ball.

I heard on the telecast that Lydia gives her new husband 9 shots a round when they play.  He plays off a 6 index.

I guess this answers the question can a 6 handicap beat an LPGA star………We already have a good population of WRX’ers who think a 4 capper can compete.  I think it is clear a 4 capper would need 7 shots a round, at least against Lydia.

Jin Young Ko has been really quiet, both on the Leaderboard and on TV!

Caught a glimpse of JYK on TV ... albeit during the highlights package, as they showed her playing partners Alison Lee and Moriya Jutanugarn with some putts!

Also... Hinako Shibuno's sportsmanship puts a smile on my face ... saw her enthusiastically applauding her playing partner Pornanong Phatlum making her putt!

@Thayneil Isn't Vongtaveelap = nicknamed "Sim 300" for her driving distance?

IIRC... she did pretty well in the LPGA Q-Series/Q-school final stage in 4Q22 (was on-track for a top25 finish?)... but fell away at the last-minute (finishing T28). https://golfweek.usatoday.com/lists/lpga-q-series-meet-the-players-144-hole-grind/#:~:text=Natthakritta-,Vongtaveelap,-Natthakritta Vongtaveelap finished

Doed Vongtaveelap's long game remind anyone else of "Namdalla/Tiger" Park Sung Hyun?

Loved the coverage of the 2nd round, must have shown 20 players hitting multiple shots and not just puts.

A bit too much chat from the commentators but that's just my taste.

Fun course, bit short and wide but some interesting green configurations.

Should be a super weekend, great to have the LPGA back, this season will be sooo interesting.

Oh, also interesting to see that you need both great ball-striking and great putting to contend/win. It's why Minjee won't win a stack of majors, probably the same for Jeeno.

@Rapidcat Is the aversion to the Kate Burton/ Ali Whitaker/ Trish Johnson commentary = a constant dislike… or just that they seemed “extra chatty” today?

I kinda enjoyed their chatter today!

It's not a constant dislike, I think some of the comments are insightful and add to the viewer experience; it's more a like but wish there was a little less of it. I do think getting those 3 together = a bit too much chat for my taste.

TBF, I am susceptible to sensory overload at present as I am on the back-end of a bout of gastro (yuk).

Am a fan of Ali, she is so well prepared and connected. She could end up the John Motson of women's golf commentary (if Judy isn't, already), such potential.

In general though in regards to commentary, less is more as long as the less is high quality.

@Rapidcat: hope you feel better soon.  “Back end” and “gastro” = paints some graphic imagery!

And Ali Whitaker = potentially “the John Motson of women’s Golf commentary “ = high praise indeed!

Whitaker is very knowledgeable.

I like her commentary.

It looks like the winning score will be either -22 or -23, it puts a lot of pressure on Lydia (-8) and Brooke (-5) to have a super Round 3 to have any chance of winning.

Seems like Lydia is more capable of putting a super low round together than Brooke. It looks like Brooke's best rounds last season were 7 under. That certainly wouldn't hurt tomorrow, but a 62 would probably be needed to get back into the hunt.

What's happening with Sung Hyun Park this season? Presumably she still qualifies for the LPGA by past wins but I don't know when she'll appear in the field. She did earn $200,000 in 2022, not sure how. Hopefully she has some of her $5 million still in the bank. She's 29 so should have a few years of golf left if she chooses.

"Terminator's" 2023 priority is #92; good enough for full field events but not for limited events in Thailand or Singapore.  Her first event will be Drive On Championship scheduled for March 23-26.

Don't worry, she is rich; her endorsement income over the last 8-9 years is probably twice of what she earned in prize money.

It's not being able to putt or just being a bad putter IMO, it limits how low you can go
