Is it considered bad form to leave the asking price on classified ads that have sold?

It seems most sold ads will have something like "Price: SOLD"  I would like to see the asking price.  Actually, I would really like to see the price that the item sold for.  Would people have a problem with having that info in sold listings?

I agree. Would be helpful for me when pricing items. I don’t even need to know the selling price but asking price would be a good start.

It’s been asked before on here and I agree. I’m not sure why people erase the asking/selling price.

 

It would be really helpful information 

 

even eBay listings show the asking/ selling price in most cases

You are supposed to leave it based on the general rules in the For Sale thread. Only taking it away if a different price has been agreed upon. 
 

I feel like it comes down to laziness. It is easier to just change it to say sold instead of doing a strike through and leaving the listing price visible. 
 

It is frustrating when trying to research what to price things at when the vast majority of ads don’t seem to leave all the info though.

I always leaving the asking price when I close the BST ad.  I don't see any reason not to.

I also always leave the asking price and wish everyone else would do it as well.  It makes it easier to understand the market if people leave the prices.  Ideally they would put the actually sale price, but even just leaving the asking price is better than nothing. 

 

The editor provides an easy access to the strikethrough text so that is the easiest way to do it.

I would prefer to leave price up too.  For some reason, I thought we had to take price off when we sold the item?

I changed my habit on this a couple years back.  Admittedly, I used to just change the price to SOLD but now everything I sell gets a strikethrough and then a SOLD.  I don't go back and change it to the price it actually sold for, but this at least makes sure anyone can see what the most recent asking price was.

I actually assumed you were supposed remove price given the share of offers that do take it down.

It’s clearly stated in the BST rules that prices can be removed from the ad.  I’m indifferent on whether anyone leaves up the price or not.  I keep track of what things sell for and I can always check eBay sold listings if I’m unsure on how to price something or what I would pay/offer.

 

What drives me nuts is when someone deletes pictures after an item is sold.  Again it’s in the BST rules that it’s allowed but in my mind it’s beneficial for buyers and sellers incase something goes sideways.  You need some kind of record of condition of an item.  As a seller why delete the pics unless your trying to hide something?  Rant over, just my 2 cents.

In previous discussions of this issue I believe mods suggested leaving pics in the ad until delivery and successful conclusion of the deal, preferably with positive feedback left

I typically send the pics to my buyer.  I am happy to leave pics up.  I take them down when I have multiple times for sale so it decreases the clutter in the listing.
