Adams is Back?

They just dropped their new stuff on website. Doesn’t look cheap at all. Will make for serious competition in the DTC category. Lot of borrowed TM elements and I’m not seeing a ton of legacy Adam hallmarks but still looks like a great line!

Yeah, looks a bit like they're starting ground up from a design perspective. The price is right but the appeal isn't there, at least for me - I'm in the "MB2s again!" crowd and it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

The full set look nice.  In the descriptions, it is explained that the draw-biased "look" is actually less draw biased than something like a TM Stealth 2 HD.

Fairways and Hybrids looks great.  Irons look a bit chunky, but fairly clean.  And full-face wedges.

Fairly interested in the fairway wood just because it's probably so damn easy to hit.

Both putters do look pretty nice.  The blade looks to be a 1/2 shaft offset?  Wonder what the toe hang is on them.  The price is intriguing.

I reached out to them via phone and email to ask about the putters.  I recieved a survey from TaylorMade to rate their customer service.

Actually it’s the other way around. Taylormade bought Adams for some of their proprietary tech like the speed pocket. I believe the original term Adams used was speed slot. The new Adams woods they are calling it velocity slot. I would say the new Adams line is pretty true to its roots.

Out of curiosity, did you check the specs of said fairway woods? And if you did, you don't think they're even "slightly" upright?

Its 1 more up than my M6 which isn't upright at all to me, so no.

From what I've seen, a very intriguing re-entry. Nice line of modern but clean looking GI clubs. Well done.

I love to see it. It's been years and years I'm still basically an Adams fanboy. I have a set of A12 pros, CMB, and A4 forged. Every time I play them I wonder why I keep trying other more expensive, newer options in the market expecting them to be better. They're not, just different. Easily some of the most underrated irons out there. Though I suspect they're just going to be the budget line for TM moving forward

I only ever owned one Adams club.  Went to a demo days and hit the different driver options.  Tried the Adams draw biased offering and it was far and away to perfect driver for me.  Nothing but long, high, baby draws shot after shot.  Tried to buy that club from the rep, but no dice.  Went into the pro shop and bought the identical driver.  Somehow, it never had the magic of the demo club.  Sold it after a year.  Had to be the club, not me.

Mixed feelings on this. Branding, pricing, product, 60 day warranty all seem pretty solid.

Question is, what kind of golfer will buy these DTC? Gearheads / better golfers with DTC affinity will buy from New-Level, Sub70 etc. Average golfers probably stick with the big brands / buy in-store (where it sounds like Adams won't be listed).

An average golfer buying DTC from a non-major brand.......I don't know how big that segment can be.

People said the same thing about PXG, New Level, Sub70, Takomo, etc... And now they're the names you list as the baseline for DTC brands.

If the new equipment is good, Adams will join that list in due time I'm sure.  Sub70, New level, weren't major-DTC brands just a few short years ago.  Things change quickly, and it's based on success of quality performing equipment.  That will be the key for Adams.  I'm sure we're all waiting for someone, anyone, to start posting reviews and many of us will be taking the plunge right after if the feedback is positive or anywhere near as good as the original Adams hybrids.

Time will tell.

I get what you're saying, but to me it's different. PXG was positioned totally differently (segment). New Level, Sub70, Takomo made their entry with player's distance irons and customization options (shaft, LLL). Adams doesn't do any of this and their equipment lines is clearly geared towards game improvement category.

I was a big fan back in the day.  Adams A4 Forged were some of the best Players/GI irons available. I even played the XTD Square Driver - that thing was a beast and ultra forgiving.  If you're ever inclined, and have a spare day or so, go back and search through the forums at the time that TM acquired Adams.  Would no doubt make for some fascinating reading now...

Amen!

A4 Forged were incredible, they had a little more help than the A4 Tours, but a players shape compared to the A4 Tech that was sold at retail. For being a bigger iron they were super consistent across the face. That was a special set of irons, I regret selling those to his day.

I bought the 54* on a whim and this thing is a spin monster.  Haven’t had a chance to take it to my home course where we have premium balls on the range, but this was last night with your standard range rocks.  With my 56* MG3 wedge which had fresh grooves I was about 500-1k less spin for the same yardage.
