Adams is Back?

Bringing back all the old stuff. BRNR, adams… love it. Any idea what it will be? Woods only? Did Adams make irons back in the day?

They had some great irons! An Adams set was my first real set of irons.

Owned by the same company that owns Taylormade IIRC - thats how they did a little feeler of the Tight Lies for the last few years.

I doubt there will be innovation but probably re-release of old stuff for nostalgia.

Is this TM bringing back the Adams brand or did TM just license off the Adams name?

My feeling is that TM might have just license off the name to the same group that "brought back" Ram, MacGregor, and Zebra.

This is my guess.  Never the same when someone else buys the name.  Adams never got the recognition they deserved.  Funny how many people bad mouthed what they were doing and now how many big companies starting doing the exact same thing.  MB irons were one of my favorites blades.

They had great stuff back in the day, I still have an old XTD 3 wood I will never get rid of. Hit a set of their irons for a few years and played a bunch of their hybrids, still have one in the garage. Thought buy YES putters was a good move but TM bought them shortly after and they faded away. Would love to see an up to date line of woods, hybrids, and irons.

A good bit of the technology on Taylormade’s driver and woods came from Adams originally.

Correct; TMAG bought Adams for those patents and then suffocated the brand.

Given that the nucleaus of the Adams R&D department responsible for most of the company's cult favorite offerings moved with Chip Brewer to Callaway, hard to imagine this being much more than a nostalgia exercise. Perhaps it's more, we'll see.

If they comeback, I would imagine them being entry level starter sets at best.  I cannot imagine them coming back the Adams we all remember.

Agreed that what made Adams special was Chip Brewer's leadership and the team of R & D + engineers that worked on their club designs. Without bringing on some serious talent and guys who are willing to innovate to disrupt the market, anything that carries the Adams name will not really be Adams as we used to know it.

Yeah, wouldn't count myself as optimistic but not going to dismiss it off hand either.

You win and lose with people in any business. The people that made Adams what it was have long since moved on and were largely responsible for the turnaround at Callaway in the mid 2010's.

I liked their hybrids more than their irons...TM could learn a thing or two from them!

It is unreal TM owns all their patents and still can’t make a good player hybrid.  Their players hybrids may resemble Adams but they feel like 💩 always are upright & are just non performers.

Look up the Adams CMBs. Works of art that are packed with tech and very playable for a players cavity.

A truly exceptional design. The tech is so well done in the forged heads. Can put Adams CMBs in the bag today and not miss a thing. Beautiful compact irons. Anyone who enjoys the Apex TCB type iron would love the Adams CMBs.

I know I’ll get shot down for this, but I’ve tried many Taylormade hybrids and I haven’t found any of them better than the rescue dual and rescue mid of the early 2000s. Took me 18 years to replace my dual full time and it wasn’t with a Taylormade.

No doubt, Adams was on the leading edge of design and Tech when Chip was running them.

Speak for yourself, my TM SIM hybrid is money. Gonna have to pry that thing from my cold dead hands. Haven't tried the stealth line in hybrids, but the 2022 driver has been working for me.
