Adams is Back?

Speak for yourself, my TM SIM hybrid is money. Gonna have to pry that thing from my cold dead hands. Haven't tried the stealth line in hybrids, but the 2022 driver has been working for me.

My son has a SIM2 max 19° hybrid and it’s stupid easy to hit. I’ve made some very suspect swings w/it and got really good results. Definitely far from 💩 IMO

To this day my entire bag sans putter is still Adams and I’ve made it somewhat of a mission to collect some of their more rare and popular stuff. ESPECIALLY the irons. I, too, am not too optimistic it’ll be anything like the old days before TM ran them aground.

I was a big fan back in the day.  Adams A4 Forged were some of the best Players/GI irons available. I even played the XTD Square Driver - that thing was a beast and ultra forgiving.  If you're ever inclined, and have a spare day or so, go back and search through the forums at the time that TM acquired Adams.  Would no doubt make for some fascinating reading now...

TaylorMade Qi10 Designer Series (Black Out) 10.5*
Callaway BB Alpha 816 16*
Srixon Z H45 Hybrid 19*
Srixon ZX Utility 23*
Srixon ZX5 Mk II 5-AW

TaylorMade Spider Tour Black / Mizuno M.Craft OMOI #1

They have been back for over a year now. in 2020 they had a club release... It was crap.

Yeah Adams/TM re-released the Adams Tight Lies as a DTC/Infomercial club in 2020/2021. Which was the same way the OG Barney Adams Tight Lies was originally sold. Orlimar did the same with the Tri-Metal. Same as McHenry Metals. Bobby Jones line of clubs. LiquidMetal clubs. Countless others.

How about we see what's going on first before rushing to any judgment based on a previous club.

Will confess a soft-spot for these Adams fairway/hybrids (even in their new 2021-ish infomercial guise).

However, their late-2000s/early-2010's "XTD" era (pre-TM acquisition) = arguably Adams' best epoch, i.e. with the better R&D (as opposed to generic/cheaper price-point-engineering in recent years?)

Exactly. Funny how some here think they think they speak for everybody. Peak WRX.

My best hybrid/rescue I've played is the TM Jetspeed 19* hybrid. I bought it on a whim from Global Golf because of the shaft that was supposed to be in it. Turned out that the shaft in it at the time was a Fuji Tour prototype hybrid shaft. Jackpot. To this days it's still a great hybrid.

I've mentioned this here a couple of times in the past. Due to the timing the Jetspeed line of clubs were released they were overlooked. It ended up being a sleeper for TM that looking back was pretty darn good. Especially the prices the Jetspeed line were available for in the used marketplace.

Adams made such a number of great clubs (drivers, irons, fairways, hybrids, wedges?) before TM purchased them for their tech.. At least for the people that actually took the time and effort to overlook their undeserved position in the market place as being solely clubs for the senior set.  Not sure where this new "Adams" branding will end up. We will all see going forward.

I know I’ll get shot down for this, but I’ve tried many Taylormade hybrids and I haven’t found any of them better than the rescue dual and rescue mid of the early 2000s. Took me 18 years to replace my dual full time and it wasn’t with a Taylormade.

I too think the Rescue Dual was one of their last great Player hybrids.

The R15 was also very similar to a Adams Peanut.

But pretty much every one of their Player Hybrids from the M1 on feel like you are hitting a rock.

I clearly stated their "Players Hybrids" the Hybrids you mentioned are not "Players Hybrids".

What we want is recreated Adams legends like the PNT, super xtd, cmb irons.

What we are going to get is cheap entry level stuff. Callaway has made a huge push with the Edge, Bertha, Reva lines. The problem is that stuff cheapens your brand. Much like Lexus/Toyota, Acura/Honda, Audi/VW, Taylormade is going to use Adams to reach the broader market, but smartly without damaging their rep as supplying high end products. Sort of the Dunlop approach.

Is this TM bringing back the Adams brand or did TM just license off the Adams name?

My feeling is that TM might have just license off the name to the same group that "brought back" Ram, MacGregor, and Zebra.

I believe this is TM bringing back the brand, not them licensing out the name.

The Jetspeed line - drivers, fw & hybrids were excellent clubs. I regret never giving them a try.

I hit these for a few years. Loved the head just didn't care for the C Taper shaft that was in them. I should have ordered a different shaft for them.

Hope you enjoy them. That's what I played with C Tapers before my current ZX5/7 combo set. Nice irons.
