Stealth Plus vs Stealth 2 Plus?

Which one do you prefer? What are your experiences in using them?

Currently I've moved onto a Stealth Plus from the OG SIM and one thing I noticed immediately is that the Stealth is much more forgiving.

I haven't tried the Stealth 2 Plus yet but I'm intrigued by the forgiveness aspect of the head.

I much prefer the 2, look at address is better to me. It is also much more forgiving in my experience.

I've still found SIM to be the longest but only bc of crazy low spin. On course it wasnt a good fit

Stealth+ was more forgiving than SIM but Stealth 2+ is even more forgiving. Out of the center they're all the same

Looks wise I give the edge to stealth 1 bc I prefer the matte

I like everything better about the Stealth 2+ vs. the original except the flatter like angle, which is fixed by playing it in the upright setting.

Are you saying you broke 3 S2+ heads or the original?  Agreed that the original was pretty poor on durability but I haven't noticed anything with the S2+ yet.

I've broken 3 Stealth 2 plus heads.

Had an original Stealth Plus and never had an issue.

Geez.  What kind of ball speed are you8 getting out of these heads?  What specifically broke on the head?

185-190, one the head disintegrated where the bottom carbon just detached from the head and the other two the face came loose from the head. Like one edge of the carbon face just kind of popped out from the head.

Nothing to confirm for certain but I believe it's a known issue also as TaylorMade recently made folks start taking a picture with their name and date next to the damaged club for the warranty replacement case which didn't exist about a month ago.

It is a great driver when it stays together. I was getting 4 mph more ball speed and better launch conditions easily with this than a ping g430.

Interesting.  I'm slightly slower than you (180-185) and I've gone through 3 S1+ heads (which is how I got my S2+).  2 were the face completely detaching like you mentioned and once was the crown popping off.  Sounds like the same issues still exist.

Agree with the rest, Stealth+ was a big step up in forgiveness from the SIM.  I also see much higher launch launch.  I was able to loft my 10.5 degree head all the way down to 8.5 for a big reduction in spin without sacrificing much on launch angle.  Probably because of the deeper face I'm confident teeing it higher than I ever was with the SIM head.

I see the Stealth 2+ seems to generate a bit more speed on average from the you tube reviews I've seen, anyone have any real world experience with that?

I preferred the matte crown in the sun but the glossy is pretty awesome to look at when there's no glare.

Same. I was skeptical of the gloss before but now I don’t mind it at all.

I've had both and the Stealth 2 is way more forgiving than the OG Stealth.  OG Stealth you could miss 1/4 inch either way from center and still be fine, but anything outside of that and it was punishing for me.  Stealth 2 has a bigger "miss" zone and tighter dispersion pattern on mishits IMO.

Wow, that's insane!  I'm actually glad I sold both my Stealth 2 heads then.  In a Paradym now and so far so good on durability, knock on wood.

Stealth 2 must be ridiculously forgiving because I don't find the OG to be unforgiving at all.  I feel like I can hit all over the face with very little drop off

Agree. I hit my OG + anywhere and it goes. Lord mercy when you find the hot spot. Wow it’s another gear.

I know it's an old thread, but I figured I'd echo your answer since I played both all season, you nailed it.

The stealth 2 plus is slightly more forgiving BUT, it's because it's also slightly higher spin (launch monitor confirmed for me, I'm not guessing).  You might or might not want that.  Also the stealth 2 head has better feel IMO.  In the end though, I have both and play the original stealth (I don't like the extra spin of the stealth 2).

Also have to echo your durability issues.  If you're a higher speed player, be careful.  I've had 3 break already, where the faces pop out of the frame.

It's very specifically about toe spin in my experience.  The OG stealth high toe miss can create a very low spinning knuckleball.  The stealth 2 doesn't have that, it keeps more spin when you hit off the high toe.

When you say more spin.. are we talking 100-200 or like 500+

I just upgraded from Stealth Plus to Stealth 2 Plus.

The Stealth 2 Plus is definitely more forgiving. I hit on the toe a few times and still get around 230 yards which is only 10 yard loss. Previously with the Stealth Plus I would probably lose about 15 yards. Ball flight is higher and higher spin

Just went from stealth plus 10.5 to stealth 2 9. Mainly because launch was 15 degrees. The stealth 2 even  with less loft launches almost as high but further carry. Anxious to see when fairways dry up if more roll out. Finally an experiment worked on this site. I agree more forgiving as well. Going to look for 3 wood now.

This was my experience to a T. 2 spun more, felt better and was more forgiving. OG Stealth + has a different gear when struck well. I've since moved on to an AI smoke 3D and its better than the best parts of all stealth drivers combined. Stupid forgiving, low spin, great feel, and has a boom-boom ball in it that should be illegal. I've never enjoyed a driver more than my AI smoke 3D and i've been in TM drivers for 12 years.

I played the Paradym TD for a bit, I found it pretty identical to the stealth for me.  I could have played either.

This isn't the TD, but this video might start to explain some of what you're finding:
