2023 Aramco Team Series - Florida (May 19th - 21st)

Recommended Posts

Took a look on the LET website for the scores and once again I was reminded of what a badly laid out and unintelligent website this is compared to the LPGA website. Obviously the first thing you go to a website like this to check on is the scores. So the LPGA has "Leaderboard" permanently as the first of the tabs. The LET doesn't even display the Leaderboard tab until the tournament has started and even then you have to find it on the right of the screen.

Open up Leaderboard and the actual scores are well away from the names, with space and flags in between. So you have to keep adjusting your sight from the names to the scores. The LPGA has the flags on the left before the names - they're there but away from the scores and unobtrusive. Easy to read - good design.

Bottom line - I hate bad design.

"but in 2022 she had 7 top 10s with 4 seconds and a win on the LET."

Big Deal!

How long has it been since she has won a proper LPGA golf tournament, and what was it?

I would have liked to have seen this as a 72 hole tournament. Linn Grant trended in the right direction. I think she will be more competitive with time after adjusting to the move to the US. Lexi went the other way, Lydia played above her recent form but just an even performance by her standard. Alison Lee lost it on the last back nine while Ciganda fell over the line to win.

The broadcast coverage was good enough. What I can't understand is how the LET can put on a tournament in the US and give us 4 hours of uninterrupted commercial free live golf streamed on YouTube and pay TV yet the LPGA with all their resources can not! or should I say not willing to do?

Like @Stooch be good to see the LPGA have a 72 hole tournament here.

The litmus test is viewership.  LPGA's "Drive On:  LPGA All Access, Episode 3" on YouTube has gathered 17,000 views after 5 days, this compares to at least 300,000 and as much as 1,000,000 live viewers from Golf Channel and NBC Sports.

LET's program on YouTube has even worse views than LPGA on YouTube; I guess they don't care.

For the life of me, I can't understand why you can't understand women's golf is just not that popular. Not to mention, you're comparing apples to oranges with LET and LPGA. Not to mention, the best European players play on the LPGA, not the LET, so that surely does nothing for views on LET products.

To say they don't care is completely asinine. They do surely, but you can't force people to watch something they don't want to watch.

When the LET live YouTube content is geo blocked to 95% of the probable viewers I'm not surprised! No way of telling how many were watching like me on the free Dubai sports 2 live stream or the pay TV channels in other countries broadcasting the coverage...Europe and worldwide could total hundreds of thousands....

I have no idea and neither would you how many people worldwide watched some or all of the coverage. I challenge you to give me a figure on viewership when it was live streamed on Dubai Sports 2 and the YouTube livestream was geoblocked to the list of countries listed as broadcast countries. You can check them all out here...

That list is where most of the viewers who would be interested in this tournament would be from!

Carlota Ciganda's shot-shaping = nice to watch on repeat!

(As my tee-shots are typically right-to-left... i admire those who have a left-to-right shape ... or can shape these either-way on demand!

My reasoning = that most golf club courses are designed to not over-punish folks who have a left-to-right slice... i.e. often favours a slight fade?)

Mildly surprised to find so many Lexi disrespecters.

Her off the course antics (blasting Evian, passport) lost her some support.  Also refusing to talk to the press after the KPMG didn't help (in her fairness, she's been good other times and other top/star players have blown off the press too after tough rounds).

For a while, I thought her years with a win streak and Brooke's multiple wins in a season steak were two of the more impressive feats on the tour.

I have no idea why you're directing your rant at me. You must be mistaken me for your pal @18majorshe's the one talking actual numbers. I was giving my opinion as to why LET would get less viewers than the LPGA. I could honestly care less how many people watch either tour, as long as I'm watching, I'm good.👍

I appreciate the fact that this concept has allowed some relatively obscure LET players to show their skills and cash some pretty big checks that perhaps they've never seen the likes of before. I'll wager that for some it's been a real boost: life/career changing.

I'm totally against these celebrities getting a chance to hack their way around with professional golfers. I would much prefer if the team captain could pick one player from the reserves. Lydia could have bought in Wenyung Keh who was 1st reserve or Hanee Song.  Lexi could have bought in Gurleen Kaur or Gabriella Then. That would have created far more interest in the tournament then the celebs while giving them the experience of playing with a top professional...

Are these people celebrities or are they just people that paid a bunch of money to participate?  I was not entirely clear on that.  Either way, I'm also not a fan.

Also, as much as we complain about the Golf Channel broadcasts of the LPGA, this was worse.

Be interested to know what you found was worse. I watched all of the broadcast and they used all the same tech as the GC. Ok it was not in 4K just 1080P but neither is the GC coverage. They had drone coverage and shot tracer etc. I don't know which broadcast company they used for the coverage but obviously there are others available should the LPGA chose to use someone else. Could it have been better...sure but I found it on par with the GC without all their advertising and commercial breaks!
