Taylormade MG4 Wedges

Had a look at the demo wedges again today, and they are definitely not as well textured as they were to start with, but they're not wearing too badly.

Could still see the etches on the face, they are starting to rust too for sure.

 

I'm still undecided, will stick with the SM9s for now and see what the next season brings, SM10s vs MG4s for the next wedge set could be interesting for sure.

These are the kinds of things I'm intrigued by.

If I can, I'll have a look at the demo one again later in the week, see how it's looking.

My raw denim copper wedges wore away just like that after about a month.  I play a lot, but it wasn't a huge deal.  I did make sure not to rip sandy range balls with them lol.

Just offloaded an MG3 gap wedge. Spun too much and travelled 10 yards shorter than the 50 deg set wedge. Will try a 48 in the new heads.

I am confused by this post.  Isn't this a forum to discuss these exact wedges?  For real world results.  Not just what is over the top marketing and paid for play tour players.  @TomBomb51 's experience could help another with a purchase or if someone else is having the same issue he is.  His 'whining' as you call it could be helpful to others, but you posted a cartoon.......dog(?) so cool?

I have heard of others having this same issue.  Solid wedges but not at the cost of chewing up balls at the rate they do.

Who, name one ? Whining is boring, and having to post "evidence" , which consisted of balls that looked like they been plunked in a shag bag, added little . TM didn't release new wedges, in its most popular line of wedges(ever), that damage golf balls . Then to follow up by stating that the face was wearing as the wedges were being used, again, sure, has to, it's called wear for a reason. Like Vokey, Cleveland, Mizzie, Ping, all are good wedges that one may like better than others. But, please quit the drama about significant damage and extraordinary wear with normal play. It ain't happening.....

I mean, Rick hits a shot and shows you the proof straight away, but that still won't satisfy some people lol

 

Not that I trust Rick too much when he's saying "500 RPMs more" when it is in fact only 350.

I also don't trust his opinion too much after his '23 p790 review, they're the best clubs I've hit.

I can also verify that these chew up balls. I only think this will be a problem for high speed players on full shots. No chewing when it’s a less than full shot. 
 

these aren’t for me. Like new set coming to BST soon

Figured I'd throw my 2 cents in here after reading this. Bought an MG4 last week - played 3 rounds with it and it just wasn't for me. That being said, the MG4 absolutely puts more wear on a ball than other wedges. My 60º is used primarily for full shots - so that might factor into it but the points stands regardless.

All this being said, had the wedge been a good fit otherwise - it's something I would be more than willing to deal with as I only use a 60º for a few full shots per round.

I went with the TW grind and I was chunking everything. Definitely a "me" thing, and our course is pretty soft this time of year in Western New York so that probably wasn't helping.

😂😂😂 I went with the TW grind also and after a long time with low bounce lob wedges I just need way less bounce if I want to open the face. Bounced into a couple of my bread and butter green side shots.

I actually think that’s quite common with the TW I think the grind basically is custom for tiger so if ur not hitting ur shots like him it’s going to dig.

I am not noticing the wear thing people are talking about. Could this be a ball thing ? I’m using two balls most of the time Srixon XV and the standard Prov1. Currently only have the 54 but prolly gets 3-4 full shots a round. I even like inspected it after one of my shots last round. 
 

I’m not saying it isn’t happening I just can’t replicate it. I swing driver like 103-105 so I am not slow by any means..

Now have the TW 56 and the 58 V-grind. Nice clubs, good performance, as expected in a premium wedge. I was very happy TM made customization so easy, and how quickly they arrived. I have had no problems, however, toweling them clean....😎

It was tested in 2022 and lost to the Milled Grind 3. It would have also lost to the MG4 this year based on overall score  good try though.

They still should've tested it against the current batch, the SMX isn't out yet

I switched to MG4 TW Grind from SM9. MG4 is the winner in my book!

I can skim the hair off a frog's back with them.

highly suggest getting FIT into these, with the proper shaft and grind/bounce = NOTHING beats it on launch and spin by a mile

I have the TW 56, but looking for a 60 to pair it with. How is the LBV pair with the 56TW? I'm torn between that or the SB-C
