New Mizuno Releases - T24 Wedge, G Series Woods, Putters etc.

Recommended Posts

Looks like the concentrated more muscle mass behind the sweet spot. It's hard to tell but I would guess that this also raised the CG location. My prediction is that these are better in the middle (probably improved forgiveness on low/high strikes), but lose some forgiveness in the toe and heel.

Not sure I like the white lettering, to be honest, but that's just my eye.

Overall I think I prefer the look of the 221s, so I'm glad I placed my order.

Driver: Mizuno ST-Z 220 8.5° - Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 6.5 / 60g

3w: Mizuno ST-Z 15° - Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 6.0 / 70g

5w: Mizuno ST-Z 18° - Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 6.0 / 70g

4i-5i: Mizuno Pro 223 - Project X Rifle 6.5

6i-PW: Mizuno Pro 221 - Project X Rifle 6.5

50.07S: Mizuno T22 - Denim Copper - True Temper Dynamic Gold S400
54.10S: Mizuno T24 - Satin Chrome - True Temper Dynamic Gold S400
60.12V: Mizuno T24 - Denim Copper - True Temper Dynamic Gold S400

Putter: L.A.B. Golf Directed Force 2.1 T2 - 34"/69° -  Matte Black Shaft - Press No. II 3°

Ball: Vice Pro Plus

I’d really love it if the 243 was more consistent in in its design and materials. I don’t want more ball speed and a different type of steel in one part of the set compared to the other.

More forgiveness would be nice though, and it looks as if it’s still going to have the channel in the long irons, and a chunky (chamfered) top line, both of which I’m fine with.

Weird the 243's which are cavities are not offered in lefty but the blades are?

I wonder if they’re going to rotate every release. Lefty’s got the 3 last release and now we’re getting the 1 and 5.

Could be but it's so inconsistent with Mizuno and their offerings for lefties

Can't say too much yet (and stay employed).  With 8 iron models in the lineup, there's no sensible way of releasing all of them available in left-handed at the same time.  We've learned not to offer exactly the same models on every cycle.  So as a rule a left-hander should have access to a model in their window every 4 years.

And for that reason i'm out - Meme Generator

In all serious, it may make most economical sense, but it's hard to stay loyal to a brand where you may want to play an iron model every 4 years (especially if your in the minority and like to buy new iron sets). The lack of consistency is confusing and there are a lot of other lefty options out there that are willing to offer more models or keep things consistent.

Cavities being offered, No we're doing SEL's this year, No SEL's this year guys were going with blades and forgivness.

As a lefty, I generally agree. Hopefully, though, Mizuno figures out a consistent and well-communicated cycle for lefties; I think that's more important than the frequency of lefty releases. It's just so jarring not knowing which models to expect to have access to.

The MP 20 SEL must have not been particularly successful, as they've shifted to alternating models every release cycle.

My first thought was that these look very similar to MP5 and MP25. Nice!

I currently play the mp-25s.  The 7-pw are unbelievably addictive to hit, but I use too much of the face (toe really) in the longer irons.   My current belief is something like a 923 Tour/Forged, zx7/zx5 or (Wife forbid) Blueprint S/i230 combo would suit me better, but I could see how these would be tempting too depending on the size

Not everything is whining or complaining. I get in today’s society everyone’s looking to cancel someone or something, but there’s beauty in having an opinion and being okay that not all opinions are the same.

Mizunos approach is unlike any other OEM right now as it relates to lefties and how they release new models (hence why the attention from lefties). Some love it and some hate it, but it’s far from whining. At the end of the day you put money where you want (with buying an iron set) and you move on lol.

I’m hoping the 243 are more like the MP-18 SC than Mizuno Pro 223. I think a full set of 1025E cavity back (deeper cavity than 923 Tour) irons is what Mizuno is missing in their offerings. The 223 and 923 Forged are almost too similar.

Absolutely with you on that, especially the deeper cavity.

I’d just like a set of generous cavity, medium offset, forged irons that aren’t multi-metal/goo-filled/cup-faced or whatever. The MX-20 were a cult hit back in the day, with lots of scratch and plus guys playing them. I’d love something like that again, but Mizuno make a big deal that they’ve shrunk head sizes in newer models, and everyone is obsessed with distance, so there’s no chance

I guess I’d just like a mass-market Vega VSC.

I just cancelled my Titleist fitting after hitting the T150 & T200 Irons.  They look great but I know myself well enough that the feel will never feel as good as what I'm playing or a Mizuno.

I will wait for the Mizuno Pro 245 and see if they can get my OnOff Kuro irons out of the bag.

How much feel did they have/how did they feel? Better than before?

I'm doing a fitting on the 17th, but expecting to want to go with Srixon ZX5s
